New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell is officially engaged, and plenty of college football and NFL fans would know his new fiancée’s brother and father.
Campbell’s fiancée is Ashlynn Nussmeier, the sister of former LSU and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier.
She is also the daughter of former NFL quarterback Doug Nussmeier, who is currently the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.
Ashlynn took to social media last week to announce her and Campbell are now engaged.
Nussmeier’s and Campbell’s engagement comes a little over one year after they went public with their relationship in April of 2025.
“She’s amazing,” Campbell said to US Weekly last year. “She has a football background, so she knows what it takes, the sacrifices that have to be made. If she wasn’t as good with that type of stuff, I’m sure it would be a lot more difficult. But she’s a rock star.”
Of course, Campbell attended LSU with Ashlynn’s brother Garrett before Campbell was taken with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Garrett Nussmeier was drafted by the Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Garrett’s and Ashlynn’s father, Doug, played in five games with the Saints over his two seasons in the league after playing his college ball at Idaho.
Campbell’s Patriots do have a game against Nussmeier’s Chiefs in 2026, but the Saints are not on New England’s schedule.
Will Campbell’s 2026 outlook
Will Campbell is looking to bounce back after a tough finish to the 2025 campaign.
He was solid for most of the regular season before he came down with a knee injury in Week 12.
Campbell would return in Week 18 but struggled from that point on and was especially bad in the Super Bowl, which led many to wonder if the Pats might look to move him.
However, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has remained committed to Campbell sticking to protecting Drake Maye’s blindside.
“Will is 22 years old, he’s our left tackle, he’ll get better, he’ll get stronger,” Vrabel said. “There are moments he played well, moments he blocked the guy, there are plays he’d like to have back.
“We’re not moving Will to guard, or center or tight end or anywhere else.”
The Patriots went on to take offensive tackle Caleb Lomu in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and while he figures to be a future replacement for Morgan Moses at right tackle, it’s not out of the realm of possibility the Pats insert him at left tackle if Campbell struggles.
That said, considering the high draft pick the Pats used on Campbell, he’s going to get every opportunity to right the ship on the left side.
