Regardless of whether the Knicks or the San Antonio Spurs win the series, Sochan is expected to receive the reward.
Typically, NBA championship rings are awarded not only to players on the Finals-winning team, but also to any players who appeared for that franchise during the regular season.
Sochan started the season with the Spurs, appearing in 28 games before being waived.
After the All-Star break, he signed with the Knicks and went on to play 16 regular-season games for New York.
In the playoffs, he has appeared in five games, averaging 4.0 points and 1.0 rebound, with his last appearance coming in the second round against Philadelphia.
Drafted ninth overall by the Spurs in 2022, Sochan became a key rotation player early in his career, starting 149 games over his first three seasons and averaging double-digit points in each of them (11+ points per season).
However, his role in San Antonio declined significantly before his departure this year.
The Spurs will host the Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday at Frost Bank Center.
