India has made one significant change to its squad for the women’s cricket competition at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in September, replacing Yastika Bhatia with 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini. The rest of the squad remains largely unchanged from the side that exited the Women’s T20 World Cup in the group stage.

Offspin all-rounder Shreyanka Patil has been included subject to fitness clearance after the ankle ligament injury that cut short her World Cup campaign. Leg-spinner Prema Rawat, who replaced Patil at the tournament, has not been retained.

Kamalini, who impressed with Mumbai Indians in the WPL, has played one T20I for India. Bhatia featured in three World Cup matches, scoring 41 runs. India will defend the women’s cricket gold medal won at the 2023 Asian Games, with Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and China also competing.
