Britain’s Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool kept their men’s doubles title defence bid alive with a three-set win to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
Cash and Glasspool became the first all-British pair to win the men’s doubles title at the All England Club for 89 years when they beat Rinky Hijikata and David Pel in the 2025 final.
And the third seeds moved a step closer to defending their title as they held off Czech-Austrian duo Petr Nouza and Neil Oberleitner with a 6-3 3-6 7-5 victory.
They will face sixth seeds Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Croatia’s Mate Pavic next.
But Britain’s Neal Skupski and his American partner Christian Harrison, the fifth seeds, are out after they fell to a narrow 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) defeat by the unseeded Australian-American pairing of Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Kovacevic.
Skupski also lost in the mixed doubles alongside American Desirae Krawczyk. The 2021 and 2022 champions, sixth seeds this year, were beaten 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-5) by Pavic and Hungary’s Fanny Stollar.
Glasspool and Canada’s Leylah Fernandez are also out after Harrison and Zhang Shuai of China fought back from a set down to win 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-3.
