    William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Friday’s 2026 World Cup game between Portugal and Croatia.

    Our Prediction: Both Teams To Score (19/20), Portugal 2-1 Croatia (13/2)

    The Toronto Stadium is primed for a heavyweight clash as Portugal and Croatia go head‑to‑head in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, with two tournament regulars battling for a place in the last 16.

    Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Friday’s fixture:

    Portugal v Croatia – Friday, 12am

    View all available markets at William Hill

    • Portugal ended their group stage unbeaten, though that doesn’t tell the full story. Roberto Martínez’s side won just one of their three matches (D2), ultimately finishing second behind Colombia in Group K.
    • Even so, Portugal should feel confident heading into the knockout rounds. They’ve lost just two of their last twenty‑three matches and have never been beaten by Croatia in a competitive game (W5, D1) — a reassuring record at this stage of the tournament.
    • The sides last met in November 2024, drawing 1-1 in a Nations League clash where Croatia were pre‑match favourites. This time, Portugal enter as the stronger outfit, priced at 3/4 with William Hill to win inside ninety minutes.

    • Croatia booked their place in the round of 32 with a hard‑earned win over Ghana on matchday three, continuing their reputation as one of the World Cup’s most consistent performers across recent tournaments.
    • Zlatko Dalić’s side have now won eleven of their last sixteen matches in all competitions, though there remains a slight concern that each of their four defeats in that run have come against nations ranked above them.
    • While this clash has all the makings of a tight affair, goals should still be on the cards. Seven of Croatia’s last nine games have seen both teams score, and each of the last six meetings between these nations has also produced BTTS. Punters can back Croatia at 2/1 with William Hill to qualify for the last 16.

    Bet Builder Hub:

    • Result – Portugal – This is tough to call with a close game expected but i’m backing Portugal to edge it.
    • Both Teams To Score – Yes – Seven of Croatia’s last nine games have seen both teams score.
    • Player Fouls – Marin Pongracic – Pongracic has committed at least two fouls in five of his last seven internationals.

    Agree with our tips? Combine them in a Bet Builder at 9/2 with William Hill.

    How to take part

    Here’s how to get involved in the Acca boost offer:

    1. Place a Qualifying Acca (football accas of 4+ selections (min odds 1/5) from Qualifying Markets) in any William Hill shop via the Sports Betting Terminals or over the counter on the Smart Hub SSBT or online via the William Hill Website or App(s);
    2. If the bet wins, an Acca Boost will be added to your bet returns.
    3. The % of your win back as an Acca Boost will be determined by the number of selections in your Qualifying Acca (see full terms for breakdown of Acca Boost available).

    Significant Conditions

    1. The promotion runs from 08:00 (UK time) on Thursday 7th August 2025 until otherwise cancelled by us in accordance with these Terms (the “Promotion Period”).
    2. This Acca Boost promotion is available to both online customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland using the William Hill website (williamhill.com – the “Website”) or William Hill iOS or Android Mobile app (together, the “Apps”) and UK retail customers in William Hill shops.
    3. To qualify, place a Qualifying Acca on a Sports Betting Terminal or over the counter on Smart Hub SSBT in William Hill shops, or online via the Website or the App, during the Promotion Period.
    4. A “Qualifying Acca” is:
      1. A cash stake of any value (no minimum stake);
      2. On any football acca made of 4 or more selections;
      3. Each with odds of 1/5 (1.2) or bigger;
      4. On the Promotion Markets.
    5. The “Promotion Markets” are:
      1. 90 Minutes;
      2. 90 Minutes 2 Up;
      3. Both Teams To Score;
      4. Match Under/Over Goals.
    6. No opt in required. If the requirements of a Qualifying Acca are met, the promotion will be applied automatically. If any acca contains any selection with odds of less than 1/5 (1.2), it will not be a Qualifying Acca.
    7. Qualifying Acca wins (less the value of the original stake) will receive an “Acca Boost”, whereby winnings will be boosted by a variable percentage, dependent on the number of selections in the Qualifying Acca:
      1. 4 selections – 5% Acca Boost
      2. 5 selections – 7.5% Acca Boost
      3. 6 selections – 10% Acca Boost

      9. 12 selections – 40% Acca Boost
      10. 13 selections – 45% Acca Boost
      11. 14 selections – 50% Acca Boost
      12. 15 selections or above – 100% Acca Boost
    8. The increasing percentage of rewards in the Acca Boost reflects the relative risk of placing Qualifying Accas with a higher number of selections.
    9. The following maximum Acca Boost amounts will be applied per Qualifying Acca:
      1. For retail customers: £2,000
      2. For online customers: £10,000.
    10. There is no daily limit of Qualifying Accas.
    11. In the case of void selections within a Qualifying Acca, the Acca Boost will still apply but the percentage applied will be calculated according to the final number of winning selections.
    12. In the case of an Acca dropping to three selections or less, the acca will lose its Qualifying Acca status and Acca Boost will not apply.
    13. Any Acca Boost on winnings will be applied as part of the standard bet settlement process.
    14. Bets you place using free bets cannot be combined with the Acca Boost
