‘People are getting bored’ of Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury speculation, says Fury’s manager

Tyson Fury’s manager Spencer Brown has voiced some concern that Anthony Joshua might yet pull out of the projected heavyweight super-fight with his charge and fans will soon be “bored” of the constant speculation.

Joshua and his team, led by Eddie Hearn, remain keen on staging the contest in the UK, as per the original contract they signed, whereas Fury is “ready to rock and roll”.

It has widely been reported that Madison Square Garden in New York, on November 20, is the first choice of venue for financier Turki Alalshikh and broadcaster Netflix.

“If you’d asked me a week ago, I’d have said no, but now it’s a little bit concerning that things haven’t progressed down the line,” Brown told Sky Sports when asked if there was a danger the whole event could fall apart.

“We need to get this fight on.”

Efforts to stage the contest between two British heavyweights at London’s Wembley Stadium, or another British venue, have thus far proved unsuccessful.

“You can’t keep flogging a dead horse, can you?” Brown said. “We’ve been flogging a dead horse for months now.

“We’ve waited and waited to do it at Wembley. The hope is fading that it’s going to be at Wembley.

“A decision must be made. Let’s get the fight on wherever it is, whether it’s in Timbuktu or whether it’s in Wembley Stadium.

“We just want to get it announced. People are getting bored. We’re in danger of really boring people.”

Fury, who recently turned 38, is eager to get into camp. He recently returned – beating Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and Mariusz Wach in June – after losing two bouts to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

“All I can say is that we’re ready to rock and roll, we’re ready to fight,” Brown said.

“Tyson wants to get into camp this week so we’re looking for an announcement this week. We want it done. We want to get it out of the way.

“I think it’s all ready to go. The bags are packed. All the team are ready to go. We’ve pre-empted everything. We’re just waiting for the go button.”
