Modern-day great Terence Crawford has once again squashed talk about a return to the ring.

The Nebraska star retired after his victory over Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas last year and turns 39 this September.

His record stands at 42-0 (31 KOs), and speaking to The Ring while in Egypt for the heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and kickboxer Rico Verhoeven, he said a comeback was not in his thoughts.

“That’s a part of boxing when you retire with a lot left in the tank, they want you to come back,” Crawford said. “But, for me, I don’t have nothing to prove, I don’t have nothing to gain, so therefore, I’m happily retired.

“My thing is, don’t give them everything. Leave with something. That way you have it for something else later on. I’m happy with my decision.”

Two fights ago, Crawford arguably delivered his greatest performance with a dominant stoppage of Errol Spence in Vegas.

Spence hasn’t fought since, by he returns in Australia on July 25 against Tim Tszyu.

While shutting down a possible “beef” with Jaron Ennis, Crawford said of his old opponent’s upcoming fight: “I think Errol is going to do an amazing job. I’m looking forward to him getting back in the ring and I think he’s going to be successful in his comeback and I’m picking him to win.”
