Newcastle United have now submitted a formal bid for a “super dynamic” forward, having also stepped up their interest in Zadok Yohanna.
Newcastle ramping up pursuit of Anthony Gordon replacement
With Anthony Gordon’s move to the Camp Nou being confirmed at a very early stage of the summer, Newcastle will have plenty of time to bring in a new winger, and they have started to ramp up their pursuit of a replacement for the England international.
A serious offer has now been submitted for Hoffenheim star Bazoumana Toure, with the Ivorian putting in some top performances during the 2025-26 Bundesliga campaign, amassing five goals and 12 assists in 30 appearances.
The Magpies are also keen to strengthen on the opposite flank, with it being reported on Wednesday a bid has been submitted for AIK right-winger Yohanna.
However, there have been conflicting reports, with journalist Luke Edwards saying: “Newcastle United have looked into the signing of AIK winger Zadok Yohanna. Have held talks with the club and his representatives. But they have not made a bid and are well aware of rival interest in the player which means they are cautious on prospect of progress being made.”
The Nigerian has five goals and four assists to his name in 18 appearances for the Swedish side, but he is just 18-years-old, and Eddie Howe’s side have also set out to sign a more experienced winger, who could be a direct replacement for Gordon.
Newcastle submit bid for “super dynamic” left-winger
According to reports from Spain (via Sport Witness), Newcastle have now submitted a formal bid worth around €40m (£35m) for Osasuna left-winger Victor Munoz, and Howe is willing to offer the 22-year-old a leading role.
Munoz is keen on a move to St. James’ Park, with a ‘very lucrative’ proposal on the table, and the Magpies are pushing hard to wrap up a deal.
However, a move could be complicated by the fact former club Real Madrid have a buy-back clause, with the La Liga heavyweights also due 50% of any transfer fee.
The 22-year-old made just four senior appearances for Madrid, but he has really kicked on since signing for Osasuna, earning a call-up to Spain’s World Cup squad.
Victor Munoz’s La Liga stats
- 34 appearances
- 6 goals
- 2 assists
- 75 successful dribbles
- 22 successful crosses
- 167 duels won
Back in September, the Barcelona-born forward also earned high praise from journalist Adrian Blanco, who described him as “super dynamic” and one of La Liga’s “revelations”.
However, Newcastle have a plethora of targets at left-wing, with Toure and AC Milan star Rafael Leao outperforming Munoz in terms of league goal contributions during the 2025-26 season.
Newcastle’s left-wing targets | Club | Potential fee | League goal involvements |
Victor Munoz | Osasuna | £35m | 8 |
Bazoumana Toure | Hoffenheim | £42m | 17 |
Rafael Leao | AC Milan | £51m | 12 |
