London Pulse emerged with a 67-66 win over LexisNexis Dragons in the Netball Super League after being taken to extra time.

Third-place Pulse were level at 56-56 with their opponents at the conclusion of regular time.

Kamogelo Maseko put them in the lead with a minute remaining of the extra period, and Pulse closed out the match against the fifth-placed Dragons.

Liv Tchine was Pulse’s top scorer with 37 goals, while Maseko added 16 of her own.

“Really proud of the group of get across the line,” player of the match Halimat Adio told BBC Sport.

“We don’t want to go to extra time. We managed to do it, it’s testament to our fitness.”

In Sunday’s other fixture, Birmingham Panthers won only their second match of the season, prevailing 52-51 against London Mavericks.

Panthers move off the bottom of the table, taking the victory despite having fewer shots than their sixth-placed opposition.

Betsy Creak scored the most goals for Panthers with 31, and they are replaced at the foot of the table by NIC Leeds Rhinos after their 79-55 defeat by Loughborough Lightning on Saturday.

Samantha Wallace-Joseph scored 34 goals for Lightning, who sit second in the table.

In Friday’s match, Nottingham Forest, who secured the fourth and final play-off place last weekend, lost 78-51 to league leaders AO Manchester Thunder.

Forest’s Rolene Streutker was the game’s top-scorer with 30 goals, but it was not enough to stop Thunder, for whom Eleanor Cardwell, Lois Pearson and Sophie Fawns scored 25, 17 and 12 goals respectively.

The regular season concludes next weekend with the 14th and final round of fixtures, prior to the all-important play-offs.
