Cleveland native and WBO lightweight champion Abdullah Mason threw out the first pitch at Wednesday’s Cleveland Guardians MLB game against the Texas Rangers.
22-year-old Mason, (20-0, 17 KOs), the youngest world champion in boxing, defends his title on Saturday against late-replacement opponent, WBO No. 6-ranked Albert Bell, (28-0, 9 KOs), of Toledo, live on TNT Sports’ “The Fight” event, a new monthly, live boxing series broadcast in America on TNT and truTV networks, as well as on DAZN worldwide (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) from the Cleveland Wolstein Center.
33-year-old Bell is a late substitute for original opponent Joe Cordina of England, who was reportedly denied an American visa due to pending legal charges.
In appreciation of the gesture, Mason presented a custom, commemorative Cleveland Guardians championship belt to the whole team.
Mason vs. Bell headlines the first-ever broadcast of TNT Sports and DAZN’s “The Fight” event, a new monthly live boxing series broadcast on TNT and truTV Networks, as well as DAZN worldwide.
In the co-featured event, Delante “Tiger” Johnson will face Christopher Guerrero. Scooter Davis will take on Carlos Ramos in another supporting televised bout.
The event is promoted by Top Rank, in association with Pulse Boxing and TGB Promotions.
