WFI finalises women’s Squads for U-23 World Wrestling Championships
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) finalised the women’s wrestling squads for the upcoming Under-23 World Wrestling Championships in the United States, following the conclusion of high-stakes selection trials at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
The athletes who secured the top position in their respective weight divisions will represent the country at the upcoming World Championships, while the runner-up grapplers will join the national camp to ensure strong sparring support and squad depth. The selected wrestlers are scheduled to assemble for an intensive preparatory camp prior to their departure for the international tournaments.

Pranavi Urs signs off with T-17 finish as Alexander claims Irish Open title
Pranavi Urs closed out the KPMG Women’s Irish Open with a composed 3-under 69 to finish tied 17th while South African Casandra Alexander completed a wire-to-wire victory at The K Club in County Kildare, Ireland.
Pranavi, the only Indian to make the weekend rounds, ended the tournament at 8-under 280 after rounds of 69, 70, 72 and 69.
The Indian had been in contention for a top-10 finish earlier in the week but could not quite maintain the momentum in a tournament where low scoring made for a tightly packed leaderboard.
She produced four birdies in her final round on Sunday, picking up shots at the seventh, eighth, 11th and 18th holes. A bogey on the 13th was her only blemish as she finished strongly with a birdie on the closing hole.
The other three Indians in the field — Diksha Dagar, Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi — had exited the tournament before the weekend.
At the top, Alexander survived an early wobble before restoring control and completing her second Ladies European Tour title.
The victory was Alexander’s first on the LET this season, having finished runner-up five times in 2026. It also strengthened her position at the top of the Order of Merit, where she moved to 2,399.98 points.
Kouskova finished alone in second at 17-under after a 2-under 70. Finland’s Noora Komulainen was third at 16-under after producing the day’s best round among the leading contenders, a 5-under 67.

WTT Feeder Czechia: Ankur bags singles, doubles titles
Indian paddler Ankur Bhattacharjee produced a memorable performance to win his maiden WTT men’s singles title, while also securing the doubles gold with Akash Pal at the WTT Feeder Olomouc tournament in Czechia.
The World No. 78 overcame third-seed Slovenian Deni Kozul 3-1 (9-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6) in the singles final to cap a remarkable campaign.
He had joined forces with Akash earlier to defeat Hungary’s Csaba Andras Szantosi and Poland’s Alan Kulczycki Zalewski 3-1 (11-8, 4-11, 13-11, 11-9) in the men’s doubles final.
The result capped a strong season on the WTT Feeder Series for the Ankur.
The Europe Youth Smash (Sweden 2025) finalist had already reached two quarterfinals and two semifinals in 2026 before breaking through for his maiden WTT title in Olomouc.

Indian para paddlers sign off with 16 medals in Finland
India signed off with a haul of 16 medals including six gold, four silver and six bronze, from the ITTF World Para Future Lahti tournament in Finland.
The singles events accounted for 10 medals, while India parathletes added six more in doubles, including two gold, one silver and three bronze.
Rameshbhai Chaudhary and Sumit Sehgal spearheaded the men’s doubles campaign in Classes 4-8, claiming gold with a composed 3-0 victory over South Africa’s Ibrahim Abdullaha and Rakan Abdulrahman in the final.
Sumit completed a memorable doubles’ double, partnering with Deepikarani Ramanathan to win the mixed doubles title. The duo overcame Finland’s Timo Kalavei and Aino Tapola 3-0 in the final.
Sonal Patel and Rameshbhai added a silver in mixed doubles after reaching the final, while three Indian combinations secured bronze.
Shubham Wadhwa and JD Madan took the men’s doubles bronze, Prachi Pandey and Savita Ajjanakatti claimed bronze in women’s doubles while Shivam Pal and Noorali Jamani completed the doubles tally with a mixed doubles bronze.

Karnataka’s young tennis players were at the centre of an action-packed day at the KSLTA World Tennis Tour Junior J30 Bengaluru, with the opening round of the main draw witnessing some closely fought contests at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium here on Monday.
Among the home players, Disha Kumar, seeded No. 3, advanced to the Round of 16 after a hard-fought 6-1, 6-7(3), 7-5 victory over Sidhhi Pandey. Aahida Singh, the No. 5 seed, also progressed comfortably, defeating Shazfa Wania SK 6-3, 6-0.
Puneeth Manohar, the 14-year-old Karnataka youngster competing in the Under-18 event, put up a strong fight before going down to Paranjay Siwach 6-7(2), 1-6. Yash Kumar was also involved in a marathon battle, eventually losing to Shlok Chauhan 6-1, 6-7(3), 5-7.
Karnataka’s Aahida Singh produced one of the more impressive performances of the day, overcoming a slow start to defeat Shazfa Wania SK 6-3, 6-0. Serving first, the 15-year-old dropped her opening two games to trail 0-2, but responded brilliantly, winning the next six of seven games to take the opening set 6-3. She then carried the momentum into the second set, racing through it 6-0 without dropping a game.
The final round of qualifying also produced mixed fortunes for Karnataka. Krishika Gautam booked her place in the main draw with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win over Australia’s Arya Rajesh Patil while there was heartbreak for Karnataka’s Riya Gangamma Pudiyokkada, who surrendered a set lead before losing to Avipsha Dehury 6-1, 2-6, 10-12 in a dramatic deciding tie-break. Pooja Nagaraj also came agonisingly close, losing to Samradnyee Dalvi 6-4, 4-6, 13-15.
In the boys’ final qualifying round, Arjun Manikandan lost to Pradyumna Tatachar 0-6, 3-6, while top seed Neel Kelkar and Rishi Yadav secured their places in the main draw.

Devansh Dabas joins Malappuram on loan from Chennaiyin FC
Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper Devansh Dabas has joined Super League Kerala side Malappuram FC on loan, the Indian Super League club announced on Monday.
The 24-year-old had joined Chennaiyin ahead of the 2026 season and was part of the club’s first-team goalkeeping unit.
Dabas will now continue his season with Malappuram FC, which competes in the Super League Kerala.
Chennaiyin confirmed the temporary move in a social media post and wished the goalkeeper well for his new challenge.

Govind Dev Pai helps Trivandrum Royals secure fourth win
Trivandrum Royals continued its mid-tournament resurgence after securing its fourth straight win in the KCL 2026 at the Sports Hub Greenfield stadium on Monday.
However, the Royals had to overcome a sloppy fielding display and a counter attacking innings from Sachin Baby to score a 14-run win over Alleppey Ripples.
Ripples were in the hunt when Baby, who was dropped on 35, and A.K. Arjun allied for a 98-run third wicket stand. But the chase was scuppered when Baby (91, 49b, 8×4, 5×6) was caught at long-on by Krishna Prasad off medium pacer Nikhil and Arun (37), who was dropped twice, fell to a diving catch by Abhishek P.Nair at point off N.P. Basil. The mounting run-rate proved to be tough for the Ripples’ lower order as Basil bowled a tidy second spell to finish with four for 32.
Earlier, opener Abhishek P. Nair (57, 30b, 5×4, 2×6) ran into form and helped Royals overcome a slow start. Govind Dev Pai (82 not out, 50b, 6×4, 5×6) chose his attacking moments sensibly to play a well paced innings as Royals seized control of the middle overs.
The duo added 85 runs for the second wicket before Sibin Girish took three wickets to check Royals’ progress. But Sijomon Joseph (31 not, 13b, 4×6) infused the much needed momentum with his quickfire knock as Royals added 63 runs from the last four overs.
