India and Pakistan are set to meet in a highly anticipated Group A fixture of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Stadium today, with the match scheduled to begin at 8pm IST.
The rivalry has traditionally been one-sided in the women’s game, with India holding the upper hand. Pakistan, however, did spring a surprise in the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup, when Nida Dar starred with both bat and ball to help the Women in Green secure a 13-run victory.
Here’s a look at what happened when the two sides last met in the Women’s Asia Cup.
India and Pakistan’s most recent tournament meeting came in 2024 in Dambulla, where Harmanpreet Kaur’s India beat Nida Dar-led Pakistan by seven wickets with 35 balls to spare.
Pakistan opted to bat but struggled to build momentum as Deepti Sharma, along with pace duo Renuka Singh Thakur and Pooja Vastrakar, kept the batters under pressure. Sidra Amin’s 35-ball 25 was Pakistan’s highest score as it was bowled out for 108.
Vastrakar’s short-ball tactic proved particularly difficult for Pakistan to handle, while Deepti, despite an expensive start, bounced back to put further pressure on the opposition.
India then chased down the target comfortably, with openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana putting together an 85-run stand.
