Everton now “keen” on signing Premier League star alongside Grealish

After welcoming Hayden Hackney and Tyrique George, Everton look destined to return to the transfer market for further additions this summer.

The Toffees finished within touching distance of European qualification last season and bridging that gap is the aim ahead of the next campaign.

It’s seen names like Jack Grealish enter their radar once again following last season’s loan move, and he could yet be joined at the Hill Dickinson by Jacob Murphy.

    Football FanCast’s Verdict

    Credibility

With so much change taking place on Tyneside this summer, Murphy could sneak out the door to Everton. The winger has just one year left on his current deal and interest from Merseyside could see him depart St James’ Park earlier than expected.

    Finances

Newcastle have done well to at least cash in for their stars this summer but may have to accept a cut-price to sell Murphy. They have just two more chances to sell their star before he leaves as a free agent this time next year.

    Insight

The 31-year-old is a Premier League veteran these days. He would hand David Moyes an incredibly reliable option, just as he has handed Eddie Howe. If the price is right, then Everton would be wise to make their move.

    Impact

Whilst it would be a good deal for Everton, Murphy’s departure would force a frustrated Newcastle back into the market for another winger, having already signed Bouzamana Toure.

Yet to sign a new contract at St James’ Park, Murphy is certainly one to watch amid Everton’s interest.

Everton “keen” to sign Jacob Murphy

As reported by Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Everton are now “keen” to sign Murphy alongside Grealish this summer. The Toffees are looking to land a double deal for two experienced midfielders, adding key depth and quality to their squad in the process.

Murphy has just 12 months left on his current deal and could yet be available at a cut-price as a result. Failing that, of course, the winger will be available as a free agent this time next year.

Everton are yet to launch an official offer, but there’s no doubt that Murphy is now one to watch.

Why Murphy is perfect for David Moyes

A player with plenty of Premier League experience who is known for his hard work rather than flair? It doesn’t get much more David Moyes than that. Murphy and the Everton boss would be a match made in heaven.

If the Toffees want to finally get the best out of their forwards, then the 31-year-old will have plenty to offer. It wasn’t so long ago that he was putting goals on a plate for Alexander Isak, before the Swede joined Liverpool and struggled.

Dubbed “brilliant” by Downie, Murphy was excellent in the 24/25 season when he had a consistent striker to work with. If Everton give him that, then he could find that form again alongside Grealish.
