Berlanga believes Zuffa Boxing can deliver major super middleweight fights after Sunday’s bout with Steven Butler at Madison Square Garden Theater.
Edgar Berlanga believes signing with Zuffa Boxing will help him land major super middleweight fights after Sunday’s clash with Steven Butler. Berlanga identified Jaime Munguia and Chris Eubank Jr. as opponents he expects the promotion to pursue if he handles his immediate assignment in New York.
Berlanga expressed confidence that Zuffa can secure those bouts after praising Dana White and the company’s plans for boxing.
“I’m with the biggest in the game. Dana White, Paramount TV, man. So, we going to make those fights happen for sure. Whether they like it or not, the bag is going to be there for those guys, so they can’t turn it down. Munguia, you got Eubank, and we on Eubank at the end of the year as well. It’s a lot of big fights to make happen. I want to listen; I’m with the biggest in the game,” said Berlanga to Paramount Boxing.
“I feel like everything that he’s done in the UFC, he’s bringing it over to the boxing world. I feel like he’s going to do an amazing job. He’s signing big fighters and I’m excited to be one of the first signings with Zuffa Boxing. They need a big superstar to represent their promotional company. You’re looking at one right now.”
Berlanga has made no secret of his ambitions beyond Butler. Munguia and Eubank remain on his target list, though his immediate focus remains Sunday’s main event at Madison Square Garden Theater before any of those opportunities can become reality.
