Abergavenny 92 all out, Ammanford 1sts 95-0 won by 10 wickets
A series of single-figure contributions did Abergavenny no favours after Sam Clarke won the toss and decided to bat first.
Only wicketkeeper Joe Harris and Ben Morris made double figures – 17 and 23 respectively – to post a mere formality for the visitors, whose openers saw them home without losing any sleep.
Meanwhile at Usk, visitors Cardiff 1sts’ skipper Sam Mills won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision he may have regretted as Usk’s bowlers Ben Jones and Billy Root had the first five batters back in the pavilion at a cost of only 47 runs.
Jones took 3-25 with three maidens, and Root claimed 2-27 with two maidens while Matthew Marriott and Matthew Williams both took 2-14 and Tahmid Ahmed (1-26) mopped up the stragglers.
In reply, the chase was more like a stroll as opener Hugo Caldicott carried his bat for 52, partner Cameron Hemp chipped in with 31, and Billy Moore’s 21 saw them home to an 18-point victory.
In Division 2, Chepstow 1sts’ skipper Aaron Jones won the toss and decided his men would bat first at home to Swansea & Civil Service.
Opener Scott Bailey scored a crucial 70 backed up by James Bishop (35) and wicketkeeper Harry Hughes (60).
After a few indifferent contributions, Lewys Jones (19) and Filip Chitnis (15 not out) saw the Mathern Road side post 273 all out.
Lewys Jones also played his part with the ball as Swansea & Civil Service 1sts’ effort fell 100 runs short.
He took 3-48 with one maiden in his 10 overs while Jason Dobbie took 2-38 with two maidens backed up by Rowan Snell (2-20), James Hall (2-13) and Chitnis (1-33).
This Saturday’s fixtures see Usk visiting Bridgend Town, Abergavenny travelling to Carmarthen Wanderers, and in Division 2, Chepstow visiting Ynysygerwn.
