Chelsea are apparently looking to sign “headstrong” players who “react positively to adversity” after a season where we saw mental collapse after mental collapse following setbacks.
It’s easier said that done, of course. It’s not like the scouting teams weren’t already briefed to find players with the right mindset. But perhaps some level of technical ability will have to be forgone to make sure we secure the true “mentality monsters” that Alonso needs.
While he doesn’t officially start work until the 1st of July, he will already be influencing heavily the moves the recruitment team are making as they prepare to make major changes.
