Andy Williams, known to wrestling fans as The Butcher, will soon have a permanent memorial in the community where he grew up.
A statue of Williams sitting on a bench is planned for Gratwick Riverside Park in North Tonawanda, New York, giving fans and loved ones a place to remember him.
The project was announced by Jordan Buckley, a founding member of Every Time I Die, on Sept. 28. The memorial will be located along the Niagara River Greenway and will honor Williams’ impact across both the music and wrestling worlds.
Andy Williams memorial project opens door for fan tributes
Williams was born in Buffalo but grew up in the North Tonawanda area, making the planned location particularly meaningful. Before becoming familiar to wrestling audiences as The Butcher, he established himself as a musician as a guitarist and founding member of Every Time I Die.
His wrestling career also made him a recognizable figure on the independent scene and beyond. Williams became known for bringing his distinctive presence from the music stage into the wrestling ring, connecting two very different worlds along the way.
Fans will have an opportunity to become part of the memorial themselves. Personalized bricks are available for purchase, allowing supporters to add their name or a message that will become part of the pathway leading toward the bench.
Buckley shared the project while encouraging fans to contribute, writing, “We’re building a statue of Andy!”
The announcement came one day after Williams’ family, friends and peers gathered in Buffalo for a public celebration of his life. The event featured speeches, personal tributes and musical performances, with the gathering also livestreamed for those unable to attend.
Williams died earlier in September after suffering a medical emergency during an independent wrestling event in Millvale, Pennsylvania. The upcoming North Tonawanda memorial will give the community he grew up in a lasting place to keep his memory alive.
For a man who made an impact both onstage and inside the ring, the memorial promises to keep his legacy firmly planted in familiar territory.
