All Elite Wrestling and Ryan Nemeth appear to remain at odds.
Nemeth made headlines in February 2025 when he filed a formal complaint in California Superior Court against AEW, Tony Khan, and Phil Brooks (CM Punk). In the complaint, Nemeth alleged assault, professional retaliation, and being blacklisted from the industry. He also accused his former promotion of breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.
Two months later, Nemeth voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court and agreed to take the matter to private arbitration. In response, AEW dismissed its own petition in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, where it had sought to compel Nemeth to enter private arbitration pursuant to the terms of his AEW contract.
According to POST Wrestling, AEW filed a new petition on June 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, accusing Ryan Nemeth of misrepresentation and misleading conduct. The promotion is also seeking to move the arbitration proceedings to Florida.
AEW Pushes for Florida-Based Arbitration
“JAMS is a private company designed to help resolve disputes through arbitration. It is the company AEW has designated in its contractual language to settle any disputes. It has 29 locations worldwide and is based in Irvine, California,” POST Wrestling reported.
“After agreeing to move to arbitration, AEW states that Nemeth filed a demand for arbitration with a JAMS office in Orange County, California, and added ‘an assortment of unsupported claims under the California Labor Code.’ AEW argues that the California Labor Code does not apply because Nemeth was not an employee and was instead classified as an independent contractor.”
The report further states that AEW is seeking to have the terms of Nemeth’s contract deemed valid and enforceable and to require Nemeth to arbitrate his claims at the JAMS administrative office nearest to Duval County, Florida. The promotion is also seeking to prevent Nemeth from pursuing arbitration in a manner that violates the agreement. Additionally, AEW is requesting “reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs incurred in this proceeding” along with “any other such relief to which petitioners may be entitled.”
Ryan Nemeth competed for AEW and Ring of Honor from 2021 to 2023. Since 2024, he has been part of the TNA Wrestling roster alongside his brother, Nic Nemeth (formerly Dolph Ziggler). The brothers are former TNA World Tag Team Champions.
