AEW’s Kevin Knight has improved significantly in the year and a half since signing with the promotion, and he has opened up about the best part of working in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Knight, the former TNT Champion, spoke to “blackamericaweb” about the surreal feeling of sharing the locker room and ring with legends that he idolized. He is amazed that those very same stars he looked up to are now giving him feedback on his work in the ring.
“Honestly, the part that feels so surreal is right here, right now. Especially when I first got to AEW, just working with people that I grew up idolizing, grew up watching, like a Cope and Cage, like, I get to work backstage with Scotty 2 Hotty, when I was at TNA and got to cross paths with Matt and Jeff Hardy, like, just the fact that I get to work and learn from these people is like a dream come true. And then, on top of the fact,those people get to critique my work and tell me that they’re a fan of my own work. And I’m like, hey, like eight-year-old me would be over the moon for what I’m doing right now.”
Knight, after a few years in NJPW, joined AEW permanently last March after making a few appearances in the promotion in 2022. In his short time in the promotion, he’s made an impact and grown gradually, first winning the Trios Championship, wowing audiences with JetSpeed, and, earlier this year, winning the TNT Championship.
After splitting from JetSpeed, his tag team with “Speedball” Mike Bailey, he became a member of the ever-growing villainous faction, The Don Callis Family. But he recently teased a possible return to his former tag team with Bailey, leaving the door open for another chapter in his AEW run.
