Richarlison wanted a fresh start away from Tottenham this summer, and his omission from their Premier League squad suggests he’s getting it.
The Brazilian was missing from Thursday’s submission after a proposed return to Everton broke down.
Roberto De Zerbi had already made the situation public, revealing after the Newcastle defeat that Richarlison had repeatedly told him he wanted to leave.
The head coach also made clear that any departure would have to bring Tottenham an acceptable financial return. Everton had offered a possible route out, with talks taking place alongside Tottenham’s pursuit of Iliman Ndiaye.
Neither move happened, and Ndiaye eventually joined Man City.

Richarlison subsequently used social media to express frustration over how his future had been handled, while maintaining that he remained available to Spurs.
It has been a messy ending to a summer in which Tottenham have changed much of their attack.
Omar Marmoush has arrived from Man City on loan with an obligation to buy, joining Dominic Solanke among De Zerbi’s options through the middle.
Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk have also strengthened the wider attacking positions, increasing the competition for places.
Richarlison’s contribution last season makes his current predicament all the more striking.
He bagged 12 goals and five assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, leaving him as Tottenham’s leading scorer. That was twice Solanke’s goal tally, although the England international made only 20 appearances during the campaign.
Those numbers have not secured Richarlison a place in the manager’s plans, and the lack of European football gives Spurs fewer opportunities to rotate.
His contract runs until June 2027, with Tottenham also holding an option to extend it for another year.
At 29, the former Everton favourite now needs a club willing to offer him a way out, with some overseas transfer windows still open.
Richarlison ‘close’ to joining Trabzonspor from Tottenham
Fraser Fletcher reports growing confidence that Richarlison will become a Trabzonspor player before the Turkish window deadline.
Writing for TEAMtalk, in a report carried by Football365, Fletcher says the Turkish club are preparing another attempt to reach an agreement with Tottenham.
Richarlison has already settled on personal terms that would treble his current salary, according to Fabrizio Romano.
That gives him a substantial financial incentive to make the switch, with Trabzonspor also offering the chance to play alongside Mohamed Salah.
The sticking point remains Tottenham’s asking price.
Bids of £15m and £20m have been rejected, and Trabzonspor must now improve their offer sufficiently to persuade Spurs to sell.
Fletcher’s information suggests the two clubs are ‘close’ to finding an agreement, with Tottenham prepared to part company with a player who wants to move.
Tottenham have yet to accept a bid, so there is still work to do before the transfer can be confirmed.
Turkey’s window closes today, leaving limited time to settle the fee and complete the necessary paperwork.
For Richarlison, an agreement would bring an end to four years in north London and allow him to begin again after a difficult summer.
