- Stoke City were eliminated at this stage of the EFL Cup last season at the hands of Bradford City on home soil, and they’ll be hoping that’s not the case again here, although their start to the domestic league campaign has been worrying to say the least.
- Following a 2-0 victory here against Oldham in the first round, Stoke have now suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship, with their 2-1 loss to Swansea followed up by a 3-1 defeat at Southampton on Saturday. These two sides met twice last season in the EFL Championship and both teams won a game apiece.
- It’s worth noting that each of the last six meetings between the pair have been won by the away side, and if punters expect that run to end, they can back Stoke at 21/10 with William Hill.
- Hull City defied the betting odds last season to secure promotion to the Premier League, returning to the top flight for the first time since the 2016/17 campaign.
- The Tigers will be full of confidence following their 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Saturday against all the odds. I’d be surprised if the same XI featured here, with Hull likely to prioritise their upcoming Premier League encounters and rotate heavily for this cup tie.
- Hull City haven’t made it into the third round of the EFL Cup since the 2020/2021 campaign, but they can be backed at 13/10 with William Hill to get the job done this time around.
