The club has partnered with BetterPoints West Yorkshire, a free rewards app funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to encourage fans to use environmentally friendly modes of transport.
Fans can earn BetterPoints for walking, cycling, wheeling, or using public transport to matches, which can be redeemed as retail vouchers.
Fans who travel sustainably will also be entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to the England vs. Sri Lanka Metro Bank One Day International (ODI) match at Headingley on September 24, 2026.
The initiative follows a similar strategy employed by Leeds Rhinos earlier this year.
Headingley is set to host a range of high-profile cricket events this summer, including the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, a men’s Test against Pakistan, The Hundred, and a Vitality Blast double-header.
The BetterPoints app, which records sustainable journeys and converts them into rewards, is available to anyone living, working, or studying in West Yorkshire.
Fans travelling from Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield can earn rewards by recording their sustainable journeys on the app.
The app is compatible with journeys by foot, bike, wheelchair, and public transport, including train journeys to Headingley or Burley Park stations.
Jack Windle, Chief Sustainable Transport Officer at BetterPoints West Yorkshire, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating: “We want to help make those journeys greener, healthier, and more rewarding.”
Jon Barnett, Director of Operations at Yorkshire County Cricket Club, said: “We recognise the responsibility that comes with hosting major sporting events and reducing the environmental and community impact of car travel to Headingley.”
Fans are encouraged to download the BetterPoints app and use the referral code YCC to start earning rewards and enter the prize draw for the England vs. Sri Lanka ODI tickets.
The app is free to download on both iOS and Android.
