“This is the time to put up or shut up. If he doesn’t wanna stand on what he’s said about my style, he’ll have to pay in the ring.”
Hernandez and Veron participated in Wednesday’s media workout for the Teofimo Lopez versus Rolando “Rolly” Romero pay-per-view card in Las Vegas.
“This is one thing to call the devil, but it’s another thing when he arrives.”
The size difference gives Hernandez an immediate advantage. He is the heavier, more imposing fighter and may have enough power to prevent Veron from taking chances at close range.
Veron does not believe those physical advantages will decide the fight. He plans to use his quicker movement and hand speed against Hernandez’s bulkier build.
“His reach and height will not affect me. He’s a little bulkier than me, but it can work against him. I feel that I might be able to use speed to my advantage.”
That strategy requires constant movement after every combination. Remaining directly in front of Hernandez would allow the Cuban to impose his strength and land the more damaging shots.
The pressure also falls on Hernandez to back up his confidence. He has looked like the strongest fighter on an otherwise thin undercard, but Veron represents an opportunity to prove he belongs in bigger fights.
“You’re not only gonna see what I’m made of, but I’m gonna humble Veron. He’s been talking trash, and now he’s gonna see what happens.”
Rather than trading insults, the Argentine leaned on his courage and national pride during the workout.
“Everyone is gonna see what I bring. I have a lot of courage. Argentinian boxers are among the best in the world, and I’m coming to prove it.”
