Former WWE star Val Venis has shared his thoughts on Power Slap following Jake Hager‘s serious eye injury.
Hager suffered the injury during his Power Slap 23 bout against Johnny Magna. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was competing in his second Power Slap match when Magna’s third slap left him bleeding from his left eye and ear.
The cageside doctor stopped the contest, with Hager requiring additional medical attention after the fight. The injury has since required surgery, with fellow Power Slap fighter Patricia Blackburn revealing that Hager is recovering from an emergency eye procedure.
Power Slap CEO Dana White also provided a concerning update on Hager’s condition. Speaking during Nina Drama’s stream, White described the injury as potentially the worst he had seen in UFC or Power Slap and suggested Hager may have suffered a ruptured tear duct.
Val Venis Urges Jake Hager To Walk Away From Power Slap
Venis has now reacted to Hager’s injury and criticized Power Slap in a post on social media. The former WWE star described the promotion as dangerous and urged Hager to reconsider his involvement.
“POWER SLAP is the worlds DUMBEST game. Not a sport at all. Just a DUMB AND DANGEROUS GAME for morons who lean into their bodies testosterone production without one single critical thought OR they are desperate for cash flow. Pray for Jake Hager to change course away for the Powerslap insanity.”
White previously revealed that he decided against showing a replay of Hager’s injury during the Power Slap 23 broadcast.
“I wouldn’t even let our guys replay it. Nobody needs to see that.”
Hager has since undergone emergency eye surgery and is recovering. Blackburn confirmed the procedure while noting that Hager’s team is keeping the specific medical details private.
Hager, who had a brief run with All Elite Wrestling, made his Power Slap debut earlier this year before returning for his second bout against Magna. His latest fight was stopped prematurely after he suffered the injury.
