SmackDown GM Nick Aldis spoke with Chelsea Green about her match against Liv Morgan at Crown Jewel. Aldis told Green that he respected her and was proud to have her representing SmackDown as WWE Women’s Champion. Green admitted that Morgan’s comments had gotten to her and that she sometimes questioned whether she deserved to be champion.
Green said she constantly fights self-doubt and wonders if her name belongs alongside the champions who came before her. Aldis encouraged her to listen to the crowd, which began chanting her name. Green said she wanted to build a real legacy and needed to defeat Morgan at Crown Jewel to prove she wasn’t a fluke and deserved to be champion.
Liv Morgan then came out and mocked Chelsea Green, saying WWE doesn’t hand out participation trophies. Morgan claimed Green only became champion because Rhea Ripley got injured and she got lucky. She called Green talentless and a charity case before declaring that she would prove all of Green’s self-doubts were true at Crown Jewel. Morgan ended by claiming she would become the greatest women’s champion of all time.
Byron Saxton interviewed Trick Williams backstage. Williams said he expected to be champion heading into Crown Jewel, but his setback wasn’t the end of his story. When asked about Damian Priest, Williams said he was going to show everyone who he really is.
In a two minute match, Damian Priest defeated Nathan Frazer after the referee ruled that Frazer could no longer continue following a collision with the announce table. Axiom attempted to get involved but was sent crashing into the ring post by Priest.
WWE Champion Sami Zayn then made his way to the ring. WWE Champion Sami Zayn addressed the crowd and asked who was ready to ride or die with the Last Real Good Guy. Zayn brought up Roman Reigns saying he wouldn’t be surprised if Sami lost his championship before Crown Jewel. Zayn said he had proven himself as a survivor by successfully defending his title on both RAW and SmackDown. He declared that he would never be overlooked again, not even by Roman Reigns, and pointed out that Roman was looking up at him when RAW went off the air.
Jimmy Uso interrupted Sami Zayn and questioned why he attacked Roman Reigns while they were at war with 946. Sami said he understood Jimmy’s frustration and still considered him family, but his priority was being WWE Champion and earning the respect he deserved. Jimmy warned Sami that he had made things personal with Roman and would get beaten at Crown Jewel. Sami welcomed the warning, saying he finally had Roman’s full attention.
As Sami was leaving, 946 attacked Jimmy from the crowd. Sami stood on the apron and watched the beatdown without getting involved before walking away, leaving Jimmy to take the beating.
