The show opens up with a video package looking back at what happened at the start of SmackDown last week, which is the GUNTHER-Cody Rhodes-Sami Zayn segment.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to the show.
We then see Cody Rhodes in the parking lot and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis walks up to him. Rhodes asks Aldis if he has heard anything from GUNTHER yet. Aldis says GUNTHER hasn’t told him anything yet. Rhodes then says he will find out tonight. Rhodes then runs into The Usos. Jey Uso says he is coming after Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship when he wins the King of the Ring Tournament. Rhodes then says he hopes Jey Uso is right. Rhodes then says he hopes it’s Jey’s decision and not Roman Reigns’.
We then see the pre-show arrivals of LA Knight, Royce Keys and Finn Bálor and Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett talk about Rhea Ripley’s knee injury. Barrett then confirms that Rhea Ripley will be out of action due to a knee injury that she suffered at Clash in Italy.
We then get a recap of what happened in the women’s tag match on SmackDown and we head to the back with Cathy Kelley and she is with Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin. Cargill says she has built a career out of pressure. Cargill then says if she can win it once, she can win it twice. Michin then says last week they proved who the real Queen is. B-Fab then chimes in and says Tiffany Stratton got a taste of what happens when you mess with the future. Cargill then tells Rhea Ripley to rest up because she will see her at SummerSlam.
Charlotte Flair then makes her way down to the ring for the first match of the night and Sol Ruca follows. Lyra Valkyria then makes her way down to the ring next and Jade Cargill follows with Michin and B-Fab.
Queen of the Ring Tournament First Round Fatal 4-Way Match: “The Queen” Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Sol Ruca
The match starts off with Jade Cargill hitting Charlotte Flair with a right hand. Lyra Valkyria then jumps on Sol Ruca. Flair then superkicks Cargill. Cargill then hits a double suplex to Ruca and Flair. Cargill then hits a fallaway slam to Valkyria. Flair then hits a series of Flair Chops and she follows it up with a German Suplex. B-Fab and Michin then beat up Flair on the outside. Alexa Bliss then returns and even the odds. Tiffany Stratton then makes her way down to the ring to level the playing field. Flair then heads to the top rope and hits a crossbody to Cargill for a near fall, but Valkyria breaks the fall.
Ruca and Cargill are then going back and forth. Ruca then hits an uppercut and she follows it up with a series of chops. Ruca then hits a springboard crossbody to Cargill. Valkyria then hits a dropkick. Valkyria then hits a series of clotheslines to Flair. Valkyria then hits a Fisherman’s Suplex to Ruca. Cargill then enters the fray, but Valkyria hits her with a DDT. Flair then hits a Natural Selection to Valkyria and Ruca breaks the fall. Ruca then runs into a big boot. Flair. then heads to the top rope, but Valkyria shoves Ruca into the corner and she trips Flair up. Cargill then enters the fray and she sends all three women down to the mat.
Flair is now favoring her right arm. Flair then trades strikes with Cargill and she follows it up with her signature walkover clothesline. Ruca then hits a missile dropkick to Flair. Valkyria then knocks Ruca off the apron. She then slides through the ropes, taking out Cargill. Ruca then hits a moonsault and she wipes out everybody. Ruca then hits a springboard splash on Valkyria for a near fall. Flair is now back in the ring. Valkyria then stretches Ruca out, but she runs into a massive kick. Cargill then hits an uppercut to Ruca. Cargill then drives her shoulder into the midsection of Flair. Cargill then hits several forearms on Valkyria in the corner. Cargill then hits a kick to the back of Valkyria. Cargill then drives her shoulder into the midsection of Flair. Cargill then comes crashing into Flair in the corner.
Ruca then hits a side elbow to Cargill. Cargill then fights back and hits Ruca with a Spinebuster for a near fall. Cargill then heads to the top rope, but Flair cuts her off with a forearm. Flair and Cargill are now battling on the top rope. Ruca then joins Flair and they hit a double superplex to Cargill. Ruca then hits a double springboard clothesline to Flair and Valkyria. Cargill then hits Ruca with a Pump Kick. Cargill then hits Flair with Jaded, but Valkyria breaks the fall with a dropkick. Cargill then sends Valkyria to the outside. Ruca then hits Cargill with a Sol Snatcher, but Valkyria drags her to the outside. Flair then hits a big boot to Ruca. Flair then applies the Figure-8 leg lock to Valkyria and Valkyria taps out.

We then see Cathy Kelley catching up to Tiffany Stratton backstage. Stratton says she’s not gonna pretend she is besties with Charlotte Flair, but they don’t want Jade Cargill back at the top of the mountain. B-Fab and Michin then walk up to Stratton, but Chelsea Green scares them away with a kendo stick.
We then see The Usos backstage and Jacob Fatu walks up to The Usos. Jimmy Uso asks Fatu what he is doing there. Fatu says he was sent there by Roman Reigns. Jimmy then says Roman Reigns already called the play and that Jey Uso will handle his business on his own. Fatu then says he’s there to meet Solo Sikoa. Jimmy then says he will make sure nobody gets involved in Jey’s match later tonight.
Blake Monroe then talks about Charlotte Flair. Monroe says she remembers Charlotte being part of the Women’s Revolution. Monroe then says Charlotte and Alexa are a pair made in co-dependent heaven. Monroe then says you believe you are stronger together, but you are soft and weak. Monroe then says she has never burdened herself with friends. Monroe then says she is coming to Smackdown.
We then see SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis talking to someone over the phone and GUNTHER walks up to him. Aldis says everything is set with his rematch against Cody Rhodes next week and he wants to know GUNTHER’s stipulation. GUNTHER says he can’t trust Aldis’ vetting of the officials, so he is going to pick the referee for the match. GUNTHER then says he will let Aldis know by the end of the night.
We then see Cathy Kelley and she stops Finn Bálor to ask about the move to SmackDown. Finn says he cannot be more excited. Finn then says he has some old friends here, but a lot of old foes. R-Truth then shows up and he confuses Cathy with Rhea and he welcomes Finn back to the family. Truth then asks how can they get Royce Keys into The Judgment Day. Damian Priest then shows up and Truth wants Priest to welcome Finn to SmackDown and Priest is not too excited. Finn isn’t too happy either. Finn then says he is going to get ready for his match. Truth then tells Finn they love him and Priest says he doesn’t. Priest then reminds Truth what Finn did to him. They face the MFTs next week and they will still be the champions and it will be just them.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Brie Bella and Paige then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Fatal Influence follow.
Non-Title Match: WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Paige and WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid)
The match starts off with Brie Bella and Fallon Henley and Bella hits a clothesline. Paige then enters the fray and they hit a double team running bulldog on Henley. Lainey Reid is now the legal woman, but she suffers the same fate as her partner. Bella then hits the yes kicks to Reid. Paige then hits Henley with several knee strikes. Jacy Jayne then trips Bella up, allowing Reid to regain control. Fatal Influence then hit a series of running uppercuts to Bella in the corner. Paige then comes in, but the referee stops her as the referee didn’t see Bella making the tag. The referee says Bella is still the legal participant in the match. Reid then sends Bella face-first into the mat.
Jayne then hits a cheap shot behind the referee’s back. Bella then tries to create some separation in the corner, but Fatal Influence puts her down. Henley then hit a kick to Bella. Bella then tries to fight her way out of the situation, but Henley is rag-dolling her. Reid is now back in and she hits a forearm to Paige. Reid and Henley then slam Bella’s head into the mat. Bella then fights back with a series of forearms to Henley. Paige then comes in and she pounds away at Henley. Paige then hits a snap German Suplex to Henley and she follows it up with a Fisherman’s Suplex to Reid. Paige then goes for PTO, but Henley breaks the hold. Paige then sends her to the outside and hits Reid with a Rampage for a near fall. Bella then hits a missile dropkick to Henley.
Paige then locks Henley in with PTO again, but Jayne pulls out her arm. The referee then catches Jayne red-handed and tells her to leave. Paige then gets a small package and pins Henley with some assistance from Bella for the win.

We then take a look at what Sami Zayn said to Cody Rhodes last week on SmackDown. Sami says he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. Sami then says this happens with a friend. Sami then says you have to ask yourself some serious questions. Candice LeRae then asks Johnny Gargano when is he going to get up and do something. Sami then says he thinks Candice and Johnny are talking to him and he says he will talk to Cody about it. Sami then thanks Johnny.
We then see Danhausen doing a science experiment on a computer. Los Garza then walks up to him and asks him to recurse the Knicks. Danhausen then says he doesn’t think so. They then hand him a bag of money. Matt Cardona then walks up to Danhausen and tells him to keep the Knicks uncursed. Cardona then gives Danhausen his watch. Kit Wilson then shows up and tells Matt Cardona to leave. Wilson then says he is worried about what Danhausen did to The Miz. Wilson then tells Danhausen to reverse it now. Danhausen then says he likes him the way The Miz is. Wilson then calls it toxic. Wilson then gets electrocuted and Danhausen leaves.
Sami Zayn’s music then hits and makes his way down to the ring. Zayn then grabs a mic and starts off by saying it’s a little bit of a strange reaction, considering he was in front of the European Crowd recently. Zayn then says his ride or die fans showed up in full force. Zayn then says the WWE Universe can either boo him or ride or die with the last real good guy. Zayn then says he’s out there because something is brewing for months and it needs to end. Zayn then calls Cody Rhodes out and Rhodes makes his way down to the ring.
Rhodes asks Providence, Rhode Island what they want to talk about. Zayn then asks Rhodes to be himself for one second so they can have honest conversation here. Zayn then says he paid the price for helping Rhodes over and over again. Zayn then says Rhodes made him feel like a bad person, forcing him to leave him high and dry against GUNTHER. Zayn then says he recalls helping Rhodes last week, leaving him wondering if it was an accident. Zayn then says he wants Rhodes to tell the truth. Rhodes then says he doesn’t need to explain pro wrestling to Zayn. Rhodes then looks back on sharing his WrestleMania XL moment with Zayn. Zayn then says he was the first guy in the ring that night when Rhodes finished his story.
Zayn then says he is happy for Rhodes to this day because he is a good guy. Zayn then asks Rhodes, “How many of them are you still friends with, now?” Zayn then says he wonders if Rhodes is the problem. Rhodes then says when the Undisputed WWE Championship gets involved, he wasn’t able to be honest with the likes of Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and John Cena in a way he’s honest with Zayn. Rhodes then says he’s listening to BS. Rhodes then says he thinks Zayn sucks and is whining. Rhodes then says Zayn has become something else, calling him desperate. Rhodes then says he knows Zayn has eyes on his Undisputed WWE Championship. Rhodes then says he’s sorry that he has the gold and he knows Zayn will never be a world champion.
Zayn then slaps Rhodes across the face and immediately regrets it. Zayn then apologizes to Rhodes and says he was out of line. Zayn then hugs Rhodes and Rhodes slaps Zayn back. Rhodes then asks Zayn if they are good. Zayn then turns around and he leaves the ring. Zayn then gets a chair and he brings it to the apron. Zayn then tosses the chair to the floor and he goes back to the floor.
We then see Jacob Fatu visit Solo Sikoa in the locker room and Solo wants to know what he wants. Jacob says he has a message from Roman Reigns. Jacob then says it has been way too long, but he needs Solo to come home. Solo then asks if that is what Roman said. Solo then says that ain’t home, it is a dog house. Solo then says you are his lap dog. Solo then says he wants to know what happened to Jacob. Solo then says you were a killer and everyone was afraid of him. Solo then says you are a lackey because he is still standing here. Solo then tells Jacob that Roman has done nothing but embarrass you, humiliate you and make you kneel down. Solo then says he isn’t going back. Solo then tells Jacob to tell Roman he can go to hell. Jacob then says he understands where Solo is coming from. Jacob then says he made a decision and he is standing on business. Jacob then says he is coming for Solo. Solo then tells Roman if he wants him to come back home, Roman can come and get him.
Rey Fenix then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Axiom follows.
AAA World Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rey Fenix (c) vs. Fraxiom’s Axiom
The match starts off with both men locking up. Rey Fenix then hits a shoulder tackle and he follows it up with a dropkick and a suicide dive and Axiom is in trouble. Fenix and Axiom are now going back and forth. Axiom then hits a German Suplex to Fenix and he follows it up with a knee to the face for a near fall. Fenix then hits a series of chops. Axiom then targets his left arm, but Fenix fights out of it. Fenix then hits an enziguiri, sending Axiom to the floor. Fenix then heads to the top rope and launches himself, but Axiom counters with a dropkick. Axiom then hits a moonsault, wiping out Fenix.
Back in the ring, Axiom goes for a Lateral Press but Fenix denies him. Axiom and Fenix then trade right hands in the middle of the ring. Axiom then hits Fenix with a dropkick for a near fall. Axiom then tries to choke Fenix out with a Sleeper Hold. Fenix then tries to fight back and he knocks Axiom out with a spinning heel kick. Fenix then heads to the top rope, but Axiom hits him with a kick. Fenix then hits a crossbody to Axiom for a near fall. Axiom then hits a missile dropkick to Fenix for a near fall. Axiom then goes for the Golden Ratio, but Fenix counters with a modified brainbuster for another near fall.
Axiom then applies an armbar, but Fenix fights out of it. Fenix then hits a spinning kick and both men are going back and forth on the top rope. Axiom then hits a Spanish Fly for a near fall. Fenix then hits Axiom with a superkick and he follows it up with another Spinning Kick. Fenix then goes for a Mexican Muscle Buster and he hits it for the win.

We then see Nick Aldis in the backstage area. GUNTHER then walks up to him and says he needs somebody more in tight with the rule book. GUNTHER then says he needs the last real good guy as the referee for his rematch against Cody Rhodes. GUNTHER then says it’s Sami Zayn he needs.
A vehicle then arrives at the arena and out comes Trick Williams and Lil Yachty.
It is then announced that Sami Zayn will be the referee for the Undisputed WWE Championship Match next week.
WWE United States Champion Trick Williams then makes his way down to the ring and he is accompanied by Lil Yachty. Lil Yachty then introduces Trick Williams, but Williams cuts him off. Willis says he has something he wants to get off his chest. Williams then talks about getting eliminated early from the King of the Ring Tournament. Williams then says he didn’t like it. Williams then says it brought up something in him and it brought a fire into him. Williams then says he wants to step up his game and take SmackDown to new heights. Williams then calls himself the leader of the new school.
Williams then says he still has his Lemon Pepper Steppers and Ricky Saints’ music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Carmelo Hayes makes his way down to the ring as well and says Williams has been doing catch phrases since winning the United States Championship. Hayes then says he wants Williams to pick somebody as his next challenger. Saints then says he beat Hayes, which makes him next in line for a title shot. Saints and Hayes then get into an argument and Williams tells them to shut up. Williams then says whoever wins next time can come for his United States Championship. Williams then says until then he tells Hayes to shut up while grown folks is talking. Saints then pushes Hayes into Williams and Hayes punches Saints. Hayes then hits a La MIstica to Saints and he follows it up with punches. Williams then send Hayes into the ring post and he hits a uranage on Saints.
We then see Cathy Kelley with Royce Keys and she asks him about the King of the Ring tournament match. Solo Sikoa then shows up and he wants to talk to Keys so Kelley leaves. Sikoa says the Bloodline is here. Sikoa then says the one that has been running the place for years. Sikoa then says he knows why they are here. Sikoa then says they are here to make sure that Jey advances. Sikoa then says Jacob is here to help them. Sikoa then says the one you call family. Sikoa then says Jacob is gone because he kneeled in front of Roman. Sikoa then says you don’t have to fight for him or with him. Sikoa then says he doesn’t want Keys to be a casualty in Roman’s war.
Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and B-Fab and Michin follow.
Tag Team Match: WWE Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green vs. B-Fab and Michin
The match starts off with Tiffany Stratton and Michin and both women lock up. Stratton then hits a clothesline and she follows it up with a Cart Wheel Alabama Slam. Chelsea Green then comes in and Michin corners Green and tags B-Fab. B-Fab then hits a striking attack and she follows it up with a big boot. B-Fab then drives her right forearm at her opponent. Michin then enters the fray and she helps B-Fab slam Green into the mat. B-Fab then hits a cheap shot to Stratton behind the referee’s back. Michin and B-Fab then continue the beatdown on Green in the corner. B-Fab then tries to choke Green out.
Michin then applies a surfboard submission on Green. Green then tries to fight back, but Michin hits her with a top rope hurricanrana for a near fall. Green then hits Michin with a Northern Lights Suplex. Green then hits a boot to the face of B-Fab. Jade Cargill then makes her way down to the ring and she pulls out Stratton behind the referee’s back. Green then hits B-Fab with an UnPrettyHer. Michin then attacks Green from behind and hits her with a Styles Clash for the win.

After the match, Stratton goes for Cargill, but the numbers game catches up to her. Cargill then hits her with Jaded. Cargill then lays Stratton out and she picks up the Women’s United States Championship and takes a close look before dropping it on Stratton.
We then take a look at what happened with Kiana James and Giulia and we see Cathy Kelley backstage and she is with Kiana James. James says Giulia betrayed her. James then says she did everything for Giulia and made her a champion. James then says she thinks Giulia needed her. Giulia then shows up and says she needed James’ help with English and contract, not with being a fighter. James then says she never needed Giulia for anything. Giulia then says her English is better now and she finally has the words to say. Giulia then slaps James across the face.
We then see Finn Bálor walking in the back and Tama Tonga stops Finn to welcome him to SmackDown and he wishes him luck.
We then see Cody Rhodes ask Nick Aldis, “Are we actually going through with this?” Aldis then says his hands are full. Rhodes then says Sami Zayn is emotionally wrecked right now and we see Zayn is standing right behind him. Rhodes then asks Zayn if they’re good. Zayn then says he doesn’t know because he is emotionally all over the place. Zayn then wishes Rhodes good luck.
It is then announced that next week GUNTHER faces Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title with Sami Zayn as the special guest referee and the match will be commercial free, Carmelo Hayes faces Ricky Saints and the winner faces Trick Williams at Night of Champions, Damian Priest and R-Truth defend the tag titles against the MFTs and Charlotte Flair faces Liv Morgan in the Queen of the Ring tournament semifinals.
We then see Cathy Kelley with LA Knight to talk about the King of the Ring match. Knight says let me talk to you. Knight then says the Bloodline is in the building, but so is he. Knight then says he predicted this. Knight then says Roman said Jey would do it by himself, but Jacob and Jimmy are here. Knight then says he has insurmountable odds, but if he can do it he will face Roman at SummerSlam.
Jey Uso then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Finn Bálor follows. Royce Keys then makes his way down to the ring next and LA Knight follows.
King of the Ring Tournament First Round Fatal 4-Way Match: “The Mega Star” LA Knight vs. “Main Event” Jey Uso vs. Finn Balor vs. Royce Keys
The match starts off with Jey Uso ambushing LA Knight while he tries to run back his entrance. Royce Keys then hits a splash on Finn Bálor in the corner. Keys then hits a splash on Uso and Knight and he sends them to the outside. Bálor then sends Keys to the outside. He then launches himself off the top rope, wiping out everybody. Back in the ring, Bálor chops Uso in the corner. Bálor then knocks Knight off the apron. He then follows it up with a basement dropkick to Uso for a near fall. Uso then drives his shoulder into the midsection of Bálor and he pounds away at him. Knight then enters the fray and he hits several right hands on Uso. Keys then sends Knight to the outside. Uso then sends Keys to the outside.
Bálor then runs into an elbow. Keys then sends Knight into the barricade. The brawl then spills out all over the arena. Uso then hits another dropkick and he applies a side headlock on Bálor. Keys then sends Knight against the hard part of the apron. Bálor then fights back with a dropkick to Uso for a near fall. Keys is back in the ring and he hits a shoulder tackle to Bálor. Uso then takes the fight to Keys, hitting him with a superkick in the midsection and he follows it up with an uppercut. Keys then hits Uso with a Spinebuster and Knight breaks the fall. Knight then goes for a neckbreaker, but he botches it. Knight then hits a stomp and an elbow drop and Keys fights back with a clothesline.
Keys then hits a powerslam on Knight and Bálor breaks the fall. Bálor then hits a kick and Keys catches Bálor mid-air and drops him on his lower back. Keys then hits an Avalanche Top Choice Royce Powerslam on Bálor. Knight then breaks the fall and Keys sends Knight spine-first into the post. Uso then superkicks Keys. Keys then catches Uso mid-air and drops him on the edge of the apron. Keys then sends Uso into the steel steps and he tosses several bodies. Jimmy Uso then comes face-to-face with Keys and Solo Sikoa is out as well. Bálor then hits a sling blade to Keys on the floor. He then goes for a basement dropkick, but Keys denies it.
Back in the ring, Keys puts Uso through the turnbuckle. Knight then takes the fight to Keys, but Keys hits a back body drop. Keys then hits a splash on Knight in the corner. He then rolls to the outside and sends Bálor back into the ring. Bálor then knocks Keys off the apron with a series of forearms. Bálor then launches himself off the top rope, but Keys plants him on the apron. Keys then hoists Bálor up, but Uso hits a superkick. Knight then takes him out to the outside. Bálor, Knight and Uso are now working together. They then clear the announce table and send Keys through the table with a Shield powerbomb.
Back in the ring, Uso and Knight are exchanging strikes. Bálor then enters the fray and he hits a sling blade to Uso. Uso then hits Bálor with a superkick. Bálor then hits another sling blade and he follows it up with a dropkick.
