Mick Foley has opened up about a bizarre discovery tied to his legendary career.

Speaking on The Mick and Kenny Show, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he had spent years trying to figure out what was causing the strange marks on the back of his left shoulder.

“For years, I thought I’d developed some type of weird skin rash on the back of my left shoulder,” Foley said.

The hardcore legend explained that he tried treating the area with lotion, but nothing seemed to work. He eventually decided to visit a dermatologist to find out what was happening.

“I went to a dermatologist about this rash that wouldn’t go away,” Foley recalled.

The doctor then gave Foley an unexpected explanation.

“And he said, ‘Mr. Foley, that’s not a rash,’” Foley said. “And I said, ‘What is it?’ He said, ‘It’s thousands of tiny holes that have healed.’”

According to Foley, the dermatologist determined that the marks were the result of thousands of small puncture wounds that had accumulated over the years.

“Little tiny thumbtack holes that over the years, they just created a pattern that looked like a skin rash on my shoulder,” Foley explained.

The revelation is fitting given Foley’s reputation for enduring some of the most notorious punishments in professional wrestling history.

Throughout his career, Foley became synonymous with hardcore wrestling and routinely put his body through extreme physical situations. He became infamous for taking some of wrestling’s most brutal bumps. He got thrown off the roof of Hell in a Cell and repeatedly took hits involving barbed wire, chairs, and other weapons.

Foley’s Cactus Jack persona also became closely associated with thumbtacks. He famously took bumps onto piles of thumbtacks during several matches, leaving behind physical reminders of the punishment he endured.

Foley remains involved in professional wrestling despite retiring from in-ring competition. The WWE Hall of Famer currently works for AEW as a backstage correspondent and show analyst.
