WWE is preparing for a major behind-the-scenes change, and it’s one most fans will probably never see. A new report has revealed the company is quietly working on something that will affect every Raw, SmackDown, NXT and Premium Live Event going forward.

Speaking on WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, JoeyVotes shared that WWE is in the process of overhauling a key part of its television production. According to members of the production staff, the company is replacing the fleet of mobile production trucks that has traveled from city to city for more than a decade.

“We’re told by members of the production staff that WWE is in the process of replacing its current fleet of television production trucks. After more than 10 years of use, the company is set to begin using three brand new mobile units which travel from city to city each week and serve as the nerve center for the entire broadcast.”

For most fans, those trucks are easy to overlook because they’re parked outside the arena. Inside them, however, is where virtually every WWE broadcast comes together, from live camera switching and replays to graphics, entrance videos and production cues.

“Everything from camera shots and replays to graphics and entrance videos — virtually every element that viewers see on WWE programming comes together from inside these vehicles.”

The scale of the project is nothing to sneeze at. JoeyVotes reported that the three new units are being built by NEP Integration, with each truck potentially carrying a price tag between $12 million and $15 million.

“We’re told the units are being produced and manufactured by NEP Integration, headquartered just outside of Pittsburgh. As for the price tag, we’re told each unit could eclipse upwards of 12 to 15 million dollars per truck.”

Earlier this month, longtime WWE engineer Jim McCourt revealed that the company’s current production fleet had reached the end of its run after 10 years and 16 days of service and would soon be retired.

The people inside those trucks help bring every WWE show to life, even if fans never see them. Now they’re getting a major upgrade, and it’ll be interesting to see whether the new technology leads to any noticeable changes in WWE’s presentation.
