Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley’s complicated history reached another chapter at AEW All Out 2026, with the AEW World Championship on the line.
The storylines of the two men have been connected since Forbidden Door 2025, when Moxley dropped Ospreay on his head and sent the Aerial Assassin away for neck surgery. After returning, Ospreay challenged Moxley for the Continental Title at Dynasty 2026 but came up short.
After that, Moxley began training Ospreay to help him regain his old self. Ospreay even joined the Death Riders briefly.
Ospreay then defeated Kazuchika Okada to win the AEW World Championship at All In 2026. This crowning achievement set up Moxley as his first challenger.
Will Ospreay retains his AEW World Championship
At All Out, the champion received a unique entrance, with a violinist performing an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag theme on the ramp. In the parking lot, Mike Bailey and Francesco Akira held a Death Riders flag. Ospreay set it on fire before entering the ring.
Moxley and Ospreay took their time getting into the action. A hurricanrana sent Moxley outside, with Ospreay following him with a slingshot crossbody.
Moxley soon took control by driving Ospreay into the top turnbuckle with a DDT. The champion was busted open. Moxley targeted his fingers and forehead before trapping him in a crossface and later a variation of the Brutalizer.
A piledriver nearly gave Moxley the win. Ospreay eventually found a second wind and traded strikes with Moxley. He also hit several signature moves, including Pip Pip Cheerio, a standing Sky Twister Press and the Styles Clash.
Moxley refused to stay down.
The former World Champion answered with a Sleeper Suplex and Gotch-style piledriver for a near fall. He then flattened Ospreay with a massive lariat. Ospreay survived another close call after a Curb Stomp attempt before finally connecting with an OsCutter.
Marina Shafir suddenly grabbed Ospreay’s boot while Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia also got involved. Mike Bailey and Francesco Akira tried to even the odds. However, the referee was knocked out during the chaos.
The champion then hit a Hidden Blade, but there was nobody to make the count.
The interference continued. PAC blindsided Bailey with a briefcase. Andrade El Idolo then arrived and made the save.
Moxley hit a desperate Paradigm Shift, but Ospreay somehow absorbed it and fired back with another Hidden Blade.
Shafir later used the briefcase on Ospreay, but Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter took her out. Ospreay was once again left alone with Moxley.
Moxley then hit a Curb Stomp with Ospreay’s head landing on the briefcase. The referee finally returned, but the champ kicked out.
Moxley hit multiple Paradigm Shifts before locking in the Bulldog Choke. The champion refused to quit. He bit Moxley’s forearm to escape and immediately followed with a Hidden Blade and Storm Breaker. Still, Moxley survived.
Ospreay slowly removed his elbow pad and prepared for one final strike.
Moxley smiled and seemed to accept what was coming. When he turned around, he got blasted with one final Hidden Blade. The shot gave Ospreay the victory.
After the match, Moxley initially took the AEW World title away from Ospreay, but eventually brought him to the center of the ring and placed it back on his shoulder. The two men shook hands before Moxley left with the Death Riders.
