After a monumental 9-0 victory at Virtue Field to start the long weekend, Vermont Green FC must now prepare for a road trip to Nashua, New Hampshire on Wednesday to face Black Rock FC.
HISTORY
Vermont Green FC and Black Rock FC have played eight matches in their history, including Vermont’s first ever home match in 2022.
The Champions secured six important points from the two fixtures last summer, but the Granite Staters have always proved to be one of the more difficult opponents in the Northeast. The Green won 2-0 in Nashua with goals from Marcell Papp and Joseph Picotto, before returning home to battle for a 3-1 victory at Virtue Field.
BLACK ROCK IN FOCUS
Black Rock FC was founded in 2013, with a base of operations in Great Barrington, MA. The developmental club has had great success producing talent, including the likes of Leeds United and Fiorentina star Jack Harrison.
They joined USL League Two in 2018, and were crowned champions of the Northeast Division in their first season. Since then, the club has moved home stadiums frequently throughout the Northeast, including a stint at Manchester, VT’s Applejack Stadium.
In 2025, Black Rock finished third in the Northeast Division with an impressive 7W-4D-3L record, proving dangerous to the Green and fellow contenders Western Mass Pioneers.
In 2026, Black Rock have only played one match thus far, a 3-0 victory over Connecticut Rush. Forward Said El Eyssami scored all three goals.
With NEFC currently sitting at 5-0-0, including a 4-2 victory in the cauldron of Lusitano Stadium against the Pioneers, the Northeast Division could be going through a power shift. Black Rock have started strong, and like NEFC, will be looking to stay perfect and disrupt the division’s traditional contenders. Chris Taylor’s men will need to be sharp and vigilant on this road trip, as Black Rock look to land a blow on the Champions in the midst of a busy stretch of matches.
DIEGUITO ROSAS
Vermont Green will be in for a battle on Wednesday night in Nashua. Taylor will rely on his men’s attacking creativity to unlock Black Rock’s sturdy backline. One player who has shown no lack of ideas in the final third is Diego Rosas. The winger from Houston, Texas already has three assists and a goal in three matches this summer, and he’s showing no signs of letting up. At the University of Portland this fall, Rosas recorded a jaw-dropping, nation-leading 15 assists, and if the Green’s strikers are in need of some service, they’d be smart to look to the breakneck speed and technical quality of Diego Rosas–or, he might just go bag one himself.
STREAM THE MATCH
Black Rock FC have communicated they will stream the match on SportsEngine Play.
