Paul London still has absolutely no love for Triple H. Nearly two decades after his WWE run, London called him one of the most insecure people he’s ever encountered and a “snake” while revisiting an angle he considers one of his biggest regrets with the company.
While speaking to Rewind Recap Relive and Vaughn Vertigo, London was asked about the segment where he and Brian Kendrick came to Triple H’s rescue, only to get Pedigreed by him afterwards. Before even getting into what happened that day, London made his feelings about Triple H very clear.
“Hunter’s like one of the most insecure people you’ll ever come across, which is probably why he got into bodybuilding because he’s a pathetic—just, he’s not a good person. And so he hides behind all this s***, you know what I mean? Like a fake body and like a fake personality and like a fake, ‘Oh yeah, we’re on the same team. Oh yeah. Oh no, it’s for your best interest.’ Like he’s just such a snake.”
London even brought Dana White into it, speculating that the UFC boss represents the kind of figure Triple H aspires to be. He stopped short of pretending he knew White personally, however, and made it clear his opinion of Triple H comes from actually dealing with him.
“And I’m pretty sure, you know, I’m sure Dana White is like his hero. That’s like what he dreams to—or aspires to be. I can’t see Dana White’s any better. But I don’t know Dana White. I just know from my experiences with Hunter.”
Those experiences included the day London and Kendrick arrived at WWE television and unexpectedly found Triple H waiting for them. London immediately knew something was different because Triple H normally wasn’t exactly going out of his way to spend time with them.
“So that day Brian and I got to TV. I think we might even got there early, and Hunter was waiting for us, and so we were like, ‘Okay, this is weird.’ Like this guy usually scraping us off his, you know, whatever. And something might be going on here.”
Then came the part London remembers most. Before explaining what they were actually doing, Triple H allegedly went out of his way to repeatedly tell London and Kendrick that the idea wasn’t his. According to London, Triple H specifically blamed Kevin Dunn.
“So we showed up and he was immediately in like pitch and defend mode. So he was like, ‘Hey guys, no, like I’m pretty sure we’re on time.’ Oh, something about that. ‘I just wanted to talk to you guys right now ’cause we’re going to be working today. We’re going to be doing a little something. It wasn’t my idea. Just wanted to let you guys know this—not my idea. Kevin Dunn’s idea, actually.’”
That apparently wasn’t a one-time disclaimer either. London recalled Triple H continuing to repeat himself while telling them they’d be working together later that night, to the point where the whole conversation started feeling bizarre.
“‘And we’re going to be doing something today on TV. It’s going to be live. But we’re gonna be working today. Wasn’t my idea. Just remember, it’s Kevin Dunn’s idea. Wasn’t my idea, by the way. But we’re going to be doing the thing later. We’ll get with you guys later. But it’ll be, you know, it’ll be good. I think it’s going to be—again, it wasn’t my idea. It was Kevin Dunn’s idea.’ Like it was just like, ‘What the f***?’”
London and Kendrick ultimately went through with the angle, helping Triple H before getting Pedigreed themselves. All these years later, London still remembers Triple H seemingly trying to put as much distance as possible between himself and the idea before they had even performed it.
The segment may have lasted only a few minutes on WWE television, but London clearly hasn’t forgotten what happened around it. If anything, his memories of dealing with Triple H behind the scenes appear to have left a considerably bigger impression than the Pedigree itself.
