    ‘There’s no more money’ – Lee Clark reacts after FC Halifax Town make it 3 defeats in a row for Hartlepool United.

    Hartlepool United head coach Lee Clark spoke in an interview with The Red:

    Interviewer: “I know you’ve already touched on Max Merrick but he went down earlier in the game, is he fine?”

    Lee: “Yeah that was just a collision I think with Gibbo and their player, showed his bravery. Sensational goalkeeper isn’t he? I mean you see some of the things he does, not just his goalkeeping but his distribution etc. Absolutely outstanding you know and so yeah absolutely brilliant.”

    Interviewer: “And the injuries does that make you look towards maybe bringing another body or two in yet or?

    Lee: “Listen, we spent the budget wisely, there’s no more money. There’s no more money. I should have probably made this clearer a couple of weeks ago. So if I wanted to bring anybody in, there’s not the funds. We’ve done the budget that was set by the owner, which was really good, and that’s been spent up on the group that we have now.”

    Interviewer: “And you know, in a game that’s as really, really tight as this one was, it’s never, obviously it’s always frustrating to concede. But to concede a goal in that manner, that must have made it just that little bit more frustrating.”

    Lee: “Well, when Hugill breaks lines, he runs from deep and they’ve told the players about that. So we’re disappointed with the goal we’ve conceded. So, you know, it’s stuff to look on.”

    Interviewer: “And finally, for me, back at home on Saturday, it’s important to nip this little losing run in the bud, isn’t it?”

    Lee: “Of course it is. We’re going to get back to winning ways. It’s a horrible feeling, losing football matches. Lost three on the spin, so we’ve got to turn it around.”

    Halifax boss John McGrath said: “Well, you know, you asked for reaction from Friday night’s game against Altrincham and you know, the lads has definitely delivered that.

    “So, you know, you know you asked for reaction at half time because I thought we were really poor against Altrincham in the first half and you know, the lads gave that reaction at half time, you know, and we you know, we spoke about starting games, right?

    “We spoke about high energy, work rate, everything that this group has bags of, and I said it on Friday, they didn’t want to lose that game on Friday night. They were hurting over the weekend and I’d seen the reaction from them training on on on Sunday, Monday and they were actually they were actually, you know, dying to get this game going.

    “So, you know, if you’ve come to watch that tonight, you’ve you’ve come and watched a group of players who who were willing with loads of desire to turn over a Hartlepool side.”

They desperately need a couple of top quality midfielders if they want to be promotion contenders this year. Hunter and Sheron are good squad players but don’t progress the ball forward.
