William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Friday’s 2026 World Cup game between Switzerland and Algeria.

Our Prediction: Draw (21/10), Switzerland 1-1 Algeria (5/1) – Switzerland To Win On Penalties (10/1)

The BC Place Vancouver awaits as Switzerland face Algeria in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, with both nations eyeing a historic step into the last 16 on Friday.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Friday’s fixture:

    Switzerland v Algeria – Friday, 4am

View all available markets at William Hill

    • Switzerland’s 2-1 victory over Canada on matchday three was enough to secure top spot in Group B and keep them in Vancouver for the knockout rounds. They now have the chance to finally end their abysmal World Cup knockout record, having not progressed from a tie at this stage since 1938.
    • Murat Yakin’s side come into this clash in excellent form. They’re unbeaten in their last six matches and have lost just one of their last seventeen in all competitions (W10, D6) — a run that should fill the A-Team with confidence.
    • This should be an entertaining affair, with goals likely. Eight of Switzerland’s last nine games have seen both teams score, pointing towards another lively contest. William Hill make Switzerland EVS to win inside ninety minutes.

    • Algeria played out a dramatic 3-3 draw with Austria on the final matchday in Group J, with a point proving enough for both sides to reach the knockout rounds — a result that inevitably sparked speculation given the circumstances.
    • This is just the second time Algeria have featured in a World Cup knockout game, but the challenge ahead is clear. They’ve failed to win any of their last nine World Cup matches against European nations (D4, L5), suggesting this could be a difficult assignment.
    • A tight encounter feels likely, and with Switzerland seeing five of their last nine knockout games at major tournaments decided by penalties, it’s hard to ignore that market. Punters who fancy Algeria to progress can back them at 11/8 with William Hill to qualify for the last 16.

    9. The following maximum Acca Boost amounts will be applied per Qualifying Acca:
      1. For retail customers: £2,000
      2. For online customers: £10,000.
    10. There is no daily limit of Qualifying Accas.
    11. In the case of void selections within a Qualifying Acca, the Acca Boost will still apply but the percentage applied will be calculated according to the final number of winning selections.
    12. In the case of an Acca dropping to three selections or less, the acca will lose its Qualifying Acca status and Acca Boost will not apply.
    13. Any Acca Boost on winnings will be applied as part of the standard bet settlement process.
    14. Bets you place using free bets cannot be combined with the Acca Boost
