Steve Maclin is officially done with TNA, and his next move could be a big one. After confirming that he requested his release from the company, speculation is already pointing toward WWE or AEW as possible landing spots.
TNA announced on June 7, 2026 that Maclin and Myla Grace had both been released, effective immediately. The company kept the statement short, saying, “TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Steve Maclin and Myla Grace, effective immediately. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Maclin later made it clear that his exit was not something that just came out of nowhere. After the news broke, the former TNA World Champion jumped on social media and said he had asked for his release the week before.
“Last week I requested my release from TNA. I put my blood, sweat, and tears into everything I’ve done over the last 5 years and I’ll always be thankful for my time there. But now, it’s time to STACK BODIES. See you soon.”
Now the attention turns to where Maclin goes next. Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update that if Maclin requested his TNA release, which he did last week and had approved, then WWE or AEW would seem like the likely next destination.
“Obviously if Steve Maclin asked for a release from his TNA contract, which he did last week and was approved, he’s likely headed to WWE or AEW.”
That is a big shift for Maclin, who spent five years with TNA and became one of the company’s top names. He also held the TNA World Championship and was regularly featured as one of the more intense acts on the roster.
There had already been context around Maclin’s situation before his release. It was reported that he had been outspoken, both privately and publicly, about frustrations with TNA’s creative direction dating back to last year. He was also said to be among talent who did not believe things had improved creatively since the move to AMC.
Pay scale has also been discussed internally as an issue in TNA. Many talent are not on full-time salaried deals, and several contracts have moved toward shorter-term agreements, even after the AMC debut.
Myla Grace’s departure had already been expected after it was reported on June 4 that she requested her release and TNA granted it. Maclin being part of the same announcement was the bigger shock, but his own statement confirmed that he asked out as well.
Maclin is now a free agent with plenty of momentum behind his name. If WWE or AEW comes calling, his post-TNA run could get interesting fast.
