Gable Steveson’s UFC 331 opponent, Sean Sharaf, brought up his past sexual assault allegation during a recent exchange.
Former WWE Star Gable Steveson (4-0) will fight Sean Sharaf (4-2) in the main card of UFC 331. The event will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 19, 2026. Ahead of the clash, the two fighters appeared at the pre-fight press conference, and Sharaf didn’t mince his words when he publicly called out Steveson over his past allegation.
Gable Steveson and fellow University of Minnesota wrestler Dylan Martinez were arrested in 2019 after a woman accused them of sexual assault. However, after a thorough investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office chose not to file criminal charges against them because of insufficient evidence.
Steveson then won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics and signed with WWE under the NIL program the next year. Despite the promotion hyping up his arrival, a combination of divided career focus, lack of full-time commitment, and a shift in fan interest caused his career to go downhill before it even started. The company released him in May 2024. He made his MMA debut in September 2025.
Sean Sharaf calls Gable Steveson a ‘r*pist’ during UFC 331 press conference
Gable Steveson and Sean Sharaf had the following exchange during the UFC 331 pre-fight press conference.
Sharaf: “I don’t dislike the guy. Nobody likes a r*pist. This guy r*ped a woman in 2019, and that’s why everyone’s booing him. You can’t do that sh*t; it’s wrong.”
Steveson: “He’s already lost just by saying that. He’s a coward. He’s already looking at the way out. He’s looking at the way out of this opportunity. He’s here because of me, and this will be a great opportunity to go against Gable Steveson.” [H/T NoDQ]
