Royce Keys‘ difficult run on WWE SmackDown continued on June 5 as the powerhouse star suffered another setback, extending a losing streak that has quickly become one of the blue brand’s most troubling storylines.
The former AEW standout entered the night looking to stop the losing slide against Talla Tonga.
However, with Solo Sikoa’s MFT faction continuing to loom over his every move, the odds once again appeared stacked against him.
MFT interference costs Royce Keys again on SmackDown
Keys and Talla Tonga opened their match with a physical exchange that showcased the strength of both men. Keys appeared to gain momentum throughout several stretches of the contest, landing multiple lariats, a huge Pounce, and a powerful slam that had the crowd firmly behind him.
With victory seemingly within reach, Keys dropped the straps and prepared for his finishing sequence. However, the familiar numbers game struck again. Solo Sikoa distracted the official from the apron, allowing Tama Tonga to interfere and pull Keys out of the ring.
After fighting off Tama and returning to the match, Keys was caught by a massive boot from Talla Tonga. Moments later, Talla delivered a chokeslam and scored the pinfall victory.
The loss marks Keys’ third consecutive defeat. His recent skid began when interference from MFT cost him a number-one contender’s match against Gunther. A week later, Keys teamed with Damian Priest against the faction, but miscommunication and constant interference led to another loss.
Following Friday’s match, MFT launched a post-match assault on Keys. Ron “The Truth” Killings attempted to make the save despite not being medically cleared, but the numbers quickly overwhelmed him. Damian Priest briefly appeared and warned Truth against continuing to put himself in danger before leaving the scene.
The situation marks a sharp contrast from Keys’ explosive start in WWE. After debuting in the 2026 Royal Rumble and later winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, he looked destined for a rapid rise. Now, however, Solo Sikoa’s faction has turned his momentum into a three-count of frustration.
