Ric Flair confirmed during a recent appearance via a video that he has a blood clot in his leg. This week, Flair was slated to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award at the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 60th annual reunion. However, he couldn’t attend the banquet in person.

Flair couldn’t attend the August 26 event in person because of health reasons. Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jimmy Hart took the stage in his stead and accepted the award. During his speech, Lawler noted, “It’s kind of an unusual situation for me to accept the award for a guy who is so good at speaking into the microphones.” Lawler spoke about his own health struggles, stating that he had a stroke recently and his voice is “not as good as it used to be, before asking Hart to help him with the speech.
Flair later appeared at the event via a video and detailed his issue with the blood clot. “I have a blood clot in my leg, so I can’t travel the five- or six-hour trips that it takes to go to get there. But I wanted to thank you all for coming out tonight, honoring me. I’m so honored,” The 77-year-old wrestling icon said.
Notably, Cauliflower Alley Club is a non-profit fraternal organization that Mike Mazurki and Art Abrams started back in the ’60s. Its current head is B. Brian Blair, who once wrestled for WWF (now WWE) as part of the tag team The Killer Bees.
According to the organization’s mission statement, it financially assists “CAC members and non-members who made a full-time living in the wrestling industry for at least 3 years, who have fallen on difficult financial times.” In the video, Flair voiced his support for this mission and stated he donated to the initiative.
