A pair of ProBoxTV regulars have been added to the broadcast team of the annual boxing/musical charitable fundraiser, “Butterfly Brawl,” on the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, August 22.
ProBoxTV commentator Paulie Malignaggi will join fellow former world champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter to call all the livestreamed action on Bash TV (watchbashtv.com), while the voice of “The Contender Series,” Lupe Contreras will serve as ring announcer.
Akin “Ak” Reyes and Barak “Barak” Hess of All The Smoke’s Ring Champs will do the in-ring interviews.
Created in 2017 to honor the life of former record executive Yassy (Yasi) Hosseini, who passed away from breast cancer aged 39, “Butterfly Ball,” is promoted by Fightbook and its Founder and President Mark Habibi, in association with Bash Boxing. The event proudly supports Teen Cancer America, to which all net ticket proceeds and sponsorship dollars generated will go.
In the night’s main event, former two-time world champion Julio Cesar Martinez, 20-4 (15 KOs), will face Mario Hernandez, 13-8-1 (4 KOs), in a six-round bantamweight bout. Also featured is a super middleweight showdown between Art Barrera Jnr, 12-0 (9 KOs), and Brian Agustin Arregui, 12-8 (7 KOs).
Mixmaster Mike of the Beastie Boys will perform, joined by Stefano, Mellow Man Ace and A Lighter Shade of Brown.
All-time boxing great and three-division undisputed world champion Terence “Bud” Crawford” has vowed his support of the event and will be on hand for the night of fights.
In previous years “Butterfly Brawl” has seen the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak and Jermaine Dupri headline the musical portion of the unique fusion event.
