Two camps who will get the 2026/27 La Liga campaign underway on Saturday evening, Alaves will welcome Getafe to the Basque Country.

With the rest of Europe’s elite domestic leagues set to follow suit over the next week and make their respective returns, there are plenty of attractive betting promotions available.

Verdict: Goal to be scored in both halves – No

    Best Odds: 2/3

    Bookmaker: BetUS

    Alaves

Starting with the hosts, once again clinging to their La Liga status last season after signing off the 2025/26 campaign holding just a one-point buffer over the drop zone, Alaves are simply hoping for smoother sailing this time around. However, despite drawing a line under proceedings back in May with a 2-1 defeat at home against Rayo Vallecano, the Basque-based outfit had shown some real grit after returning from March’s international break. Including a sensational 1-0 victory against reigning Spanish champions Barcelona on May 13th, Alaves lost just a trio of their final 11 La Liga appearances. Likewise, enjoying an eye-catching summer flurry and unbeaten in all of their four pre-season battles over the past month, Quique Sanchez Flores’ camp will be hoping to lay down an opening weekend marker here.

    Alaves Team News

Yet to make a single appearance across any competition so far this calendar year, Alaves will once again be without the services of 21-year-old midfielder Tomas Mendes on Saturday evening.

Claiming Alaves’ Golden Boot last season after registering 14 La Liga strikes, one-time West Ham misfit Toni Martinez will spearhead Flores’ charge this weekend. Finland international Ville Koski will partner ex-Wolves star Johnny Otto at the back.

    Getafe

As for the visitors, booking an iconic European ticket last season, Getafe certainly cemented their spot as one of Spain’s ultimate surprise packages. Set to get their Europa Conference League qualifying adventure underway next week when they meet Serbian outfit Partizan, Jose Bordalas’ men have rightfully received a string of plaudits. Signing off the 2025/26 campaign with a 1-0 victory at home against Osasuna on May 23rd, the Blues will also be excited by a dominant record against Alaves. Landing a 2-0 victory when they travelled to the Basque Country for a La Liga showdown back on February 8th, Getafe have also notched 10 points from their previous four top-flight battles. Gaining a reputation last season for their rugged approach, Bordalas’ record-breaking squad will be hoping to carry on from where they left off prior to the summer interval.

    Getafe Team News

Reportedly sustaining a knee injury over the summer, Getafe will be unable to call upon Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche on Saturday evening. Former Real Betis marksman Juanmi remains on the sidelines with a muscle issue and won’t play any part here.

Completing a season-long loan switch from French outfit Lyon earlier in the month, former Nottingham Forest star Orel Mangala will start in the middle of the park this weekend.

Alaves vs Getafe Key Factors to Consider

    • When Alaves and Getafe last met for a La Liga showdown back on February 8th, Saturday’s guests clinched a 2-0 victory in the Basque Country.
    • In fact, Getafe have registered 10 points from their previous four La Liga battles against Alaves.
    • Booking a seventh-place finish among Spain’s elite last season and punching a European qualifying ticket, that was the highest finish that Getafe have recorded since the 2018/19 campaign.
    • Alaves only mustered a pair of wins from their final nine La Liga matchups on home soil last season.
    • Each of the last six straight meetings between Alaves and Getafe have finished with under 2.5 goals.

    Conclusion

Landing a 2-0 victory when they last travelled to the Basque Country back in February, Getafe will be dreaming of a repeat performance here. However, despite mustering 10 points from their previous four La Liga battles against Saturday’s hosts, we could be set for a cagey opener from the Basque Country. It should be highlighted, each of the last six straight showdowns between Alaves and Getafe have finished with under 2.5 goals. Likewise, despite shattering a string of records last season, the Blues could only muster a single goal from any of their final four straight matchups outside of the Spanish capital.

Verdict: Goal to be scored in both halves – No

    Best Odds: 2/3
