William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Monday’s 2026 World Cup game between Portugal and Spain.

Our Prediction: Draw (5/2), Portugal 1-1 Spain (11/2) – Spain To Win On Penalties – (12/1)

The Dallas Stadium will play host to what promises to be a thoroughly entertaining round‑of‑16 clash at the 2026 World Cup, as Portugal and Spain go head‑to‑head on Monday with a quarter‑final place on the line.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Monday’s fixture:

    Portugal v Spain – Monday, 8pm

View all available markets at William Hill

    • Portugal had to come from behind in their round‑of‑32 clash with Croatia, with a late winner securing a 2-1 victory for Roberto Martínez’s side. The game wasn’t without controversy either, as Croatia saw their last‑gasp equaliser ruled out by the narrowest of margins — a hair follicle in the offside review.
    • Seleção das Quinas have lost just two of their last twenty‑four matches, but they haven’t won back‑to‑back World Cup knockout games since 2006. That trend may well be tested again here: Portugal have beaten Spain only once in their last seven meetings, and even that came via penalties in last year’s Nations League final.
    • Despite that recent shootout success, Portugal have won just one of their last twelve competitive games against Spain inside ninety minutes. They are 14/5 with William Hill to change that and win this one inside the distance.

    • Spain look to have fully clicked into gear, as shown in their commanding 3-0 victory over Austria in the round of 32. La Roja have been rock‑solid defensively too, arriving in the last 16 without conceding a single goal at this World Cup.
    • They come into this tie on a fourteen‑match unbeaten run (W9, D4), while Luis de la Fuente remains unbeaten in major tournaments — winning ten of his eleven games in charge and drawing the other. Remove penalty‑shootout defeats from the equation and Spain are on a remarkable 35‑game unbeaten streak, equalling their all‑time national record.
    • This particular fixture has a habit of ending level. Six of the last seven meetings between these sides have finished as a draw inside ninety minutes, making 5/2 with William Hill for another stalemate a very realistic option for punters.

    Bet Builder Hub:

    • Result – Draw – Six of the last seven meetings between these sides have finished as a draw inside ninety minutes.
    • Player To Score or Assist – Mikel Oyarzabal – Oyarzabal has had five goal involvements in his last three games for Spain.

      12. 15 selections or above – 100% Acca Boost
    8. The increasing percentage of rewards in the Acca Boost reflects the relative risk of placing Qualifying Accas with a higher number of selections.
    9. The following maximum Acca Boost amounts will be applied per Qualifying Acca:
      1. For retail customers: £2,000
      2. For online customers: £10,000.
