Jey Uso is heading into one of the biggest matches of his singles career with plenty of confidence, making it clear he isn’t buying into the growing hype surrounding Oba Femi ahead of the King of the Ring final at WWE Night of Champions.
After advancing to the tournament final on SmackDown, Jey now stands one win away from the King of the Ring crown and a guaranteed world championship opportunity at SummerSlam.
But despite Oba Femi’s rapid rise, Jey insists he’s facing just another obstacle on his road to the throne. Apparently, he’s not ready to acknowledge any final boss.
Jey Uso brushes aside Oba Femi before Night of Champions clash
Speaking to Jackie Redmond, Jey dismissed the idea that Oba Femi is a different kind of challenge.
“Oba Femi is just another man in my way, another chapter in my book that I’ve got to rip out. He’s just another character, another Superstar to me.”
Jey doubled down by pointing to his lifelong connection to the wrestling business.
“This is my blood. I grew up in the game. Oba probably saw this and was like, ‘Oh, I can do that.’”
Asked whether he needed a special game plan for the powerhouse, Jey’s answer was simple.
“Ain’t no preparing. I don’t care. I’m prepared.”
The comments come despite Triple H recently offering glowing praise for Oba Femi’s future. Speaking to Stephen A. Smith, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, highlighted the importance of developing young stars and singled out Femi as someone with enormous potential.
“You always have to be thinking about the future… When you see this new crop of talent, Oba Femi is going to be as big as anybody has ever been in this business.”
Jey earned his place in the final by defeating Je’Von Evans on SmackDown, while Oba secured his spot after beating Dominik Mysterio.
Ahead of the showdown, Jey also embraced a new nickname on Instagram, referring to himself as “Mega Event” Jey Uso. Whether that prediction comes true or gets checked at the throne remains to be seen.
