WWE NXT Superstar Kendal Grey will remain on the sidelines for the next several weeks as she continues to recover from vertigo and other issues.
Grey’s condition was discussed during the September 1 episode of NXT, where WWE confirmed that she had been experiencing vertigo. She was not diagnosed with a concussion, but the situation has prevented the former NXT Women’s Champion from competing.
The issue appears to have originated during Grey’s Underground match with Lola Vice earlier this year. Vice caught Grey off the apron during the August 4 episode of NXT, sending her crashing into the steel steps.
Grey suffered bleeding from her ear in the incident but continued with the match and eventually picked up the victory. Her condition became more concerning in the weeks that followed.
At Heatwave, Grey put the NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Kelani Jordan. Jordan had become increasingly ruthless following her heel turn and repeatedly focused her attack on Grey’s injured ear during the title match.
Jordan used the injury to her advantage whenever Grey began building momentum. She also sent Grey into an exposed turnbuckle, adding another potentially damaging moment to a match in which the champion was already dealing with an injury.
Jordan ultimately defeated Grey to capture the NXT Women’s Championship.
Robert Stone Provides Update on Kendal Grey
NXT General Manager Robert Stone provided some clarity during an appearance on Busted Open Radio. Stone confirmed that vertigo remains an issue for Grey and indicated that she may not have immediately understood the seriousness of what happened to her.
According to Stone, Grey did not initially realize that she had been affected by the incident. He explained that she is now dealing with vertigo as part of her recovery.
Stone also revealed that Grey will be away from in-ring competition for at least the next several weeks, meaning fans should not expect an immediate return.
The NXT authority figure added that Grey is recovering from several different issues, so they do not currently have a specific timetable for her comeback. Despite that uncertainty, Stone expressed confidence that Grey will eventually return to competition.
While Grey focuses on her recovery, NXT Women’s Championship Kelani Jordan has already come across her first challenge.
Jaida Parker stepped up as the next challenger to Jordan on Tuesday, setting up a championship match between the two WWE stars at next week’s NXT taping.
