New England Revolution head coach Marko Mitrovic has hailed the influence of Carles Gil and hopes he can continue to shine against the LA Galaxy in MLS.

Gil has been an important figure during his time in New England and showed that once again last weekend as he had a hand in all three goals in their 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew.

That victory stretched New England’s unbeaten streak to three games (W2 D1), with both of their wins in that time coming on the road – they also beat D.C. United 3-0.

The Revs are fourth in the Eastern Conference and are looking to keep the pressure on the teams above them, with Mitrovic confident that Gil, who has eight goals and eight assists in MLS this year, can make another big impact against the Galaxy.

“The team trusts him so much in all those moments where there is adversity on the field, where we need someone to put their foot on the ball, and when we need someone the team trusts,” Mitrovic said, as quoted by the Blazing Musket substack.

“You can just see the players organically play the ball to Carles, and he gives us that calmness, he gives us that confidence, he gives us that belief.

“Carles is one extremely important part of our team.”

As for the Galaxy, they are 13th in the Western Conference on 26 points but only sit three points behind ninth-place Minnesota United.

They are struggling for form at the moment, though, having won just one of their last nine league games (D4 L4).

Though they lost 3-1 to 10-man San Diego FC last time out, new signing Hirving Lozano scored his first goal for the Galaxy and head coach Greg Vanney is confident it will be the first of many.

“I thought he was excellent,” Vanney said of Lozano.

“Gets a goal, has another couple of chances, but he draws the yellow card because of his directness in some of those dribbling moments where he skates through guys.

“Unfortunately, Chucky [Lozano] in two of the games didn’t get the chance to play with Marco [Reus], obviously, so I think there’s still some continuity that’s going to continue to grow there.”

    PLAYERS TO WATCH

    LA Galaxy – Hirving Lozano

Lozano tallied his first goal with the Galaxy against San Diego, his first goal in MLS play in almost a year (August 31, 2025).

Eight of Lozano’s 10 career MLS goals have been scored in the state of California.

New England Revolution – Carles Gil

On Sunday, Gil recorded three goal contributions (one goal, two assists) for the third time in the regular season during his Revs’ career.

Since coming to MLS in 2019, Gil is the only Revolution player to have three or more goal contributions in multiple MLS matches.

    MATCH PREDICTION: LA GALAXY WIN

LA Galaxy and New England will square off for the first time since a 2-1 road win by the Galaxy in August 2022.

The last team to win consecutive regular-season matches in the fixture was the Revolution, with victories in 2012 and 2013.

LA Galaxy recorded seven shots on target in their 3-1 loss to San Diego, bringing their season total to 121, the fourth-most in MLS. It was their 10th MLS match with seven or more shots on target this season, the second-most behind Inter Miami (12).

New England have scored three goals in each of their last two road matches. The Revolution are looking to score three or more goals in three consecutive regular-season away matches for the second time (September-October 2021).

    OPTA WIN PROBABILITY

    LA Galaxy – 43.1%

    Draw – 24.2%

    New England Revolution – 32.7%
