    William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Monday’s 2026 World Cup game between Mexico and England.

    Our Prediction: Draw (2/1), Mexico 1-1 England (24/5) – England To Win On Penalties (10/1)

    One of the toughest places to visit in world football — the Azteca awaits, as Mexico welcome England in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, with a quarter‑final place on the line in Mexico City.

    Now, let’s take a closer look at some World Cup odds and betting angles for Monday’s fixture:

    Mexico v England – Monday, 1am

    View all available markets at William Hill

    • Mexico breezed through Group A, winning all three matches without conceding a goal, they followed that up with another clean sheet and a win against Ecuador in the round of 32, that run extends their unbeaten streak to twelve games, and they head into this round‑of‑16 clash with an extraordinary record at the Azteca.
    • El Tricolor have never lost a World Cup match at this stadium (W7, D2), and you have to go back to 2013 for their last defeat here in any competition. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, they’ve lost just two competitive games here at the Azteca (W70, D17), incredible.
    • Mexico have been rock‑solid defensively, and they welcome England to Mexico City having seen nine of their last twelve international matches produce fewer than three goals. With that organisation and discipline likely to shape this round‑of‑16 clash, punters can back Mexico at 2/1 with William Hill to beat England inside ninety minutes.

    • England once again failed to convince in their round‑of‑32 win over D.R. Congo, needing to come from behind and relying on Harry Kane to drag them through with a 2-1 victory. That late escape has set up a huge round‑of‑16 clash with Mexico.
    • England simply have to find a way here. The altitude, the atmosphere, and Mexico’s formidable record in Mexico City make this the toughest test the Three Lions have faced in years. England fans also carry painful memories of this venue — the stadium where Diego Maradona’s infamous Hand of God goal was scored.
    • There is some encouragement, though: England have won their last four meetings with Mexico, albeit the most recent came back in 2010. And with seven of England’s last ten matches producing fewer than three goals, this has all the makings of another tight, low‑scoring affair. The Three Lions are 7/5 with William Hill to win inside ninety minutes.

    Bet Builder Hub:

    • Total Goals – Under 2.5 – Seven of England’s last ten matches produced fewer than three goals.
    • Result – Draw – This should be a cagey affair and going the distance wouldn’t surprise me.
    • Total Corners – Over 8.5 – Six of England’s last seven games have seen nine or more corners.

    Agree with our tips? Combine them in a Bet Builder at 11/2 with William Hill.

    2. If the bet wins, an Acca Boost will be added to your bet returns.
    3. The % of your win back as an Acca Boost will be determined by the number of selections in your Qualifying Acca (see full terms for breakdown of Acca Boost available).

    Significant Conditions

    1. The promotion runs from 08:00 (UK time) on Thursday 7th August 2025 until otherwise cancelled by us in accordance with these Terms (the “Promotion Period”).
    2. This Acca Boost promotion is available to both online customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland using the William Hill website (williamhill.com – the “Website”) or William Hill iOS or Android Mobile app (together, the “Apps”) and UK retail customers in William Hill shops.
    3. To qualify, place a Qualifying Acca on a Sports Betting Terminal or over the counter on Smart Hub SSBT in William Hill shops, or online via the Website or the App, during the Promotion Period.

      1. A cash stake of any value (no minimum stake);
      2. On any football acca made of 4 or more selections;
      3. Each with odds of 1/5 (1.2) or bigger;
      4. On the Promotion Markets.
    5. The “Promotion Markets” are:
      1. 90 Minutes;
      2. 90 Minutes 2 Up;

      12. 15 selections or above – 100% Acca Boost
    8. The increasing percentage of rewards in the Acca Boost reflects the relative risk of placing Qualifying Accas with a higher number of selections.
    9. The following maximum Acca Boost amounts will be applied per Qualifying Acca:
      1. For retail customers: £2,000
      2. For online customers: £10,000.
    10. There is no daily limit of Qualifying Accas.
    11. In the case of void selections within a Qualifying Acca, the Acca Boost will still apply but the percentage applied will be calculated according to the final number of winning selections.
    12. In the case of an Acca dropping to three selections or less, the acca will lose its Qualifying Acca status and Acca Boost will not apply.
    13. Any Acca Boost on winnings will be applied as part of the standard bet settlement process.
    14. Bets you place using free bets cannot be combined with the Acca Boost
