    GAME 1

Joe Hayes and Owen Smith added 71 for the first wicket in 42 balls with Hayes facing only 12 of them. Smith had completed a half century in 29 balls but was caught at extra cover next ball to give former YCCC player Josh Hen-Boisen a wicket.

Harry Duke made 19 from 16 before being caught at short third man and Hayes also completed a half century from 43 balls before being caught at long off for 57.

Yorkshire totalled 162-5 but in the last 10 overs hit only 3 fours and a six.

The University were reduced to 14-2 in the 3rd over but Moulton and Dunnett made inroads with 26 and 31 respectively. Wickets fell and when Hussain was caught (34 from 25) off Will Rogers, 7 balls remained with the University requiring 10 to win with 4 wickets remaining. Ben Cliff bowled the last over with 8 required – he dismissed Brown with the first ball and restricted the scoring to 4 runs as YCCC squeezed home by 3 runs.

    GAME 2

The University batted first and unfortunately a dropped catch from the first ball of the innings proved expensive as Lloyd went on to make 80 from only 37 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes – he and Moulton made 102 for the first wicket from only 53 balls.

Following Lloyds dismissal things did tighten up a little and they closed on 186-6 with Ed Burch taking 3-26 from his 4 overs.

In reply there were “double figure” scores from Duke and Bennison with the major contribution coming from Smith who made his second half century of the day with 59 from 38 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. However, wickets fell at regular intervals and YCCC finished all out for 136 to lose by 50 runs.

Next action is at Old Trafford with T20 on Monday 1st June followed by a 2-day red ball game 2nd and 3rd June
