The San Francisco 49ers had a solid 2025 season, returning to the playoffs despite injuries and finishing 12-5. While they failed to retake the NFC West and ultimately lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round, the 49ers enter 2026 with some renewed hope, a revamped roster and some returning stars
Former NFL defensive back Logan Ryan is optimistic the 49ers can have a better 2026 season than they did a year ago. He predicted the 49ers would finish the year with a 13-4 record, which could be good enough to take the division.Ryan sees the losses coming in specific spots. He handed Week 1 to the Los Angeles Rams, who face the Niners in Australia to open the season. Week 4 against the Denver Broncos is another stumble in Logan’s projection. Logan also gave Seattle the edge in their Week 12 home matchup, citing the Seahawks’ status as defending Super Bowl champions and the divisional stakes that come with every NFC West clash. And in Week 16, Ryan picked Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at frigid Arrowhead to hand San Francisco their fourth loss of the season.Everything else? Ryan painted Ws across the board.
He did acknowledge one wildcard: health. But operating under the assumption that quarterback Brock Purdy and the rest of the stars remain uninjured, Ryan was firm in his overall outlook.
49ers fans would be ecstatic with this outcome, especially given the long travel distances for the year. This result would include a fantastic 4-2 division record with splits against the Rams and Seahawks, as well as huge conference wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
