Two big names were brought up during the post media scrum for AEW’s WrestleDream.
AEW’s CEO Tony Khan was asked about the status of former multi-time AEW Women’s World Champion, Toni Storm. Storm has taken some time off away from the ring. The last we saw of her, she was written off after an attack in her dressing room by an unknown assailant in March. Fightful reported that she was expected to be out through the rest of 2026.
Khan said the following when an update on Storm was asked:
“You asked about the former World Champion ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm. Well, I know we’ve been missing ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm but everybody’s just been doing absolutely fantastic. The women’s wrestling in AEW has seen the locker room absolutely step up in the absence of the former World Champion, now in Mercedes Moné… The former World Champion ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm is certainly on a lot of our minds and I can’t say when or where but I know ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm will be back in AEW and looking to get payback for whoever it was that took her out.” (Fightful/Transcript)
In typical Khan fashion, he gives a very political answer without giving much away.
He was also asked about Kairi Sane. Over the past couple of months, Kairi’s name has been coming up as possibly signing with AEW.
“She’s a fantastic wrestler. I can’t speak to that at this time but I am very aware and excited to see that she’s a free agent. I think that that’s very, very interesting, and I’m very intrigued by the possibility of that.” (Fightful/Transcript)
