It turns out that Kelani Jordan did only need one shot to become NXT Women’s Champion. She defeated Kendal Grey at Heatwave to win the title. This ended Grey’s reign at 63 days.
Jordan secured her victory with a “one of a kind” split legged moonsault after driving Grey into the exposed steel of the turnbuckle. Jordan becomes the first (third overall) Black woman to win the top title since Ember Moon in 2017, nearly a decade ago.
Elsewhere at Heatwave, Jaida Parker defeated Nattie with a Sharpshooter. Nattie had Karmen Petrovic and Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons with her at ringside. Petrovic, however, seemingly chose AAA over NXT by joining her Los Perros Del Mal factionmates who arrived at the top of the ramp.
