On Saturday, October 10, famed broadcaster Jim Lampley will be a special celebrity guest at “Fighter’s Heaven in Art and Literature,” the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Fighter’s Heaven, Muhammad Ali’s historic six-acre former training compound in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, now operated as a museum dedicated to Ali’s life and legacy.
Featuring art exhibits and special events, the premier exhibition of the day-long celebration will be artist Mark Dickens’ “Fighter’s Heaven in Art” project, for which Lampley was one of many personalities who provided a written quote.
In addition, author Todd Mealy will debut his new book, “Fighter’s Heaven: Inside the Camp Where Muhammad Ali Remade His Legacy.”
World-famous Lampley was the blow-by-blow announcer for HBO World Championship Boxing for 30 years and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2015. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Lampley covered a record-setting 14 Olympic Games and anchored major sports broadcasts for ABC, CBS, and NBC. In 2025, Lampley published his memoir “It Happened.”
Built and used by legendary heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali, Fighter’s Heaven was originally designed as an escape from the noise and distractions of city life, allowing “The Greatest” to focus entirely on his training for many of the defining fights of his career, including the 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” against George Foreman and the 1975 “Thrilla in Manila” against Joe Frazier.
After falling into disrepair following Ali’s career, the property was purchased, restored, and turned into a public historical site and museum.
Also scheduled to attend are two-time Heavyweight Champ Tim Witherspoon, former world title challenger and current boxing trainer John “Iceman” Scully, and International Boxing Hall of Fame sportswriter Ron Borges, among other boxing notables.
This October 10 event is free and open to the public.
