Jermall Charlo says fans won’t have to wait another year to see him back in the ring if he gets past Koen Mazoudier next month.

The former two-division world champion revealed Wednesday that he intends to return before the end of 2026 after facing Australia’s Mazoudier on July 25, saying activity has become one of his priorities as he pursues a world title at super middleweight.

“Let’s get done with this fight in July. Then I’ll try to fight before the end of the year is over with. Give you another fight,” Charlo said during a media workout in Houston. “Then I want to go and fight McGee. Caleb Plant don’t want to fight. He’s been running for years now.”

Charlo also indicated that his team had another opponent in mind before those plans changed.

“It’s unfortunate that Resendiz lost to Miguel because we was going to take him,” Charlo said.

The comments offer a glimpse into Charlo’s plans beyond Mazoudier after an injury- and inactivity-plagued stretch that has limited him to five fights since 2020. He returned from a lengthy layoff in May 2025 by stopping Thomas LaManna in five rounds, but another 13 months passed before his next scheduled appearance.

Charlo said he feels rejuvenated since moving to 168 pounds and believes he still has championship-level boxing ahead of him.

“I feel a lot more comfortable at 168,” Charlo said earlier in the workout. “I feel fresh. At 36, I feel like I’m 32 maybe or 30 or something.”

Charlo faces Mazoudier in a 10-round super middleweight bout on July 25 at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia, on the undercard of Errol Spence Jr.’s junior middleweight clash with Tim Tszyu. A victory would keep him on course for the third world title, he says, which remains his primary goal.
